Why does red lipstick feel like such a commitment? I bought some a long time ago and keep it in my purse. I'm going out after work tonight, and I'm trying to psych myself up to put some on to dress up my work outfit. But I think I'm chickening out.
Does red lipstick freak anyone else out? Is it a matter of just wearing it often enough so that it doesn't feel/look weird to me? It kinda feels too AW-ish. But I do like the look when I see it on other people.

I rarely wear any lipstick at all. I bought a red (REALLY RED) lip stain on a whim. It felt so weird because I'm used to nothing and it was such a drastic change. But I liked it!
Also, it was basically permanent marker and I couldnt get it off lol! I met cjoy and toledo for dinner that night and was forced to wear it in public.
I love red lipstick. I usually pair it with very light eye makeup (mascara, light shadows and no liner). That's my go to look with any bold lip colour actually.
I'm the same. For me, I think it's because I tend to do a lot of eye makeup, so I feel weird and overdone with red lips and lots of eyeliner. Plus I feel like red lipstick magnifies any blemishes on me.

You need to do it a few times and then it won't seem so weird.
It's just like when in middle school I used to wear gobs and gobs of eyeliner (top and bottom - ugh). Once I stopped it took a while to get used to seeing myself in the mirror without it.

I've always been intimidated by it. But I once had it applied properly, with lip liner, at a MAC counter and it looked fantastic. Like my face came into focus, if that makes sense. Sadly, I've never been able to recreate this effect .
I feel like red is hard to get right. You need to plan your other makeup in advance to work with a strong red. Then you need to find the "perfect" red for your skintone and hope it doesn't make your teeth look yellow or gray. And then you have to apply it perfectly of risk looking like a four year old who got into mom's makeup.
I always kind of think of red as something mature women who are comfortable in their own skin can pull off. Plus, it seems to be some sort of mating signal for DH he feels compelled to fuck it all up when I come close to getting it right. It's that whole novelty thing.

Yeah I wear bold lipsticks only occasionally for this reason. It's an all day commitment. Let that shit fade and it looks like garbage. There's no changing my mind a switching to a neutral midday, I just look like I have fruit punch stain under my regular gloss.
Serenity go to the Lancôme counter at Macy's in the PP mall. Cici i think her name was. Lol. I was feeling bold to try red lip for the first time and she picked out a good shade for me.
So I just put it on, and I do think I look a lot better. I never notice how pale my lips are until I put something on them. But I'm worried people will be like "whoa" because I don't normally wear bold stuff. Oh well. Gotta start somewhere.

I do have a good shade that I got from Sephora. I've had it for probably about a year, and I've worn it once because it feels like I'm wearing a costume!
Revlon Just Bitten in Gothic. But I"m not kidding, try it when you dont have to go anywhere for at least a day. You will not be able to get it off. I tried EVERYTHING.

It looked awesome on you. For real.
You're only saying that because you got your blowjob for free.
You don't count because you are basically made to wear red lipstick. Blue eyes, dark hair, great skin? GO SAT DOWN.
Nugget, please. My skin doesn't know if its coming or going. Zits like a greasy tween one week, crepe-y under eye circles all day erry day, crazy neckbeard hairs as it so pleases. In the past year its started doing this... THING... I don't even know what the fuck it is but my pores just... WAT!?

I look great in bold lipstick (red or otherwise) my problem is I tend to smudge it pretty badly even when applied properly. I prefer to wear it when I won't be eating which is not that often, ha!
