My name is Holly, and I frequently get called Polly or Sally after I tell someone my name when ordering food or speaking over the phone, etc. Is there an incorrect name you are frequently called? Or do you have a common name that is often misspelled in ridiculous ways?
This is inspired by this pic that one of my H's friends posted on his FB page. H's name is Marc. I cannot stop laughing at this:
My name has an alternate spelling and pronunciation (which I guess makes it a different name? Idk) that I get all the time, plus there is a similar name (same first two syllables, minus the last one) that I also get frequently.

I have a four letter, one syllable name. Nine times out of ten, if someone gets my name wrong they are calling me Lisa. Which is not even close to my actual name.
I love Starbucks misspellings. That one is especially great.
I have a friend named Yvette who has a whole album on facebook dedicated to pictures of the various ways SB baristas have misspelled her name.
My maiden name was a common female first name. People confused my first and last names all the time. Also, I once had someone who had known me for nearly year who didn't realize that (Maiden name) was actually my last name. He thought I had a double first name (like Ruby Sue or Mary Ann or something). I had been wondering why he always called me by my full name....
my name is very common with a common spelling. it is even the title of a very popular movie. it is spelled wrong often, or changed to a different name altogether that sounds similar.

Yeah my name is Juliet. So I get Julia, Julie Anne, Julie, and once someone called me Shirleyette (THATS NOT A NAME, WEIRDO!!!!!)
I have given up on people spelling it correctly altogether. I've seen Juilette, Juliette, Julit, Guilette, omg I can't even remember them all.
Once when I was 5 or 6 at a Secret Santa thing at school someone was trying to spell it and I corrected them twice- finally they got it wrong again and I said "close enough". My mom was there and she still remembers that and laughs. She's like yep- that's when you gave up hope. lol.
I still love my name though, even if people butcher it.
I thought the Starbucks people did it on purpose? It's like an inside joke to see how badly they can butcher names.
I just give people a different name when I have to give mine at restaurants. It's totally not worth the trouble to have to explain it. I spent many years being indignant and then realized that was dumb and now I just use an easier, fake name.

I have quite a few friends who do this.
Mine is familiar to everyone but not that common, so even if they get the wrong version I can still tell it's for me.

My maiden name is apparently impossible for people to spell or say, so before I changed it, I would always give a fake last name at restaurants.
I get Bethany and Tiffany a lot. My last name starts with a Y, but when I spell it out, so many people put a W on it instead and it comes out close to whack-a-mole.
My name is Nicole and I can't tell you how many emails I get addressed to "Nichole".
Listen. Even email address I have includes my first and last name spelled out fully. If you are replying to an email l sent you, I also include my name in my signature. There is NO reason to spell it wrong!
I worked with a person that consistently, over a two year period, misspelled my name via email. I finally started spelling her name (Teresa) wrong, on purpose, just out of passive aggression.
My maiden name is a mouthful, and, while it's spelled just like it sounds, it seems to trip up everyone. Whenever my parents go out and need to give their name (or make a reservation), they use my mom's maiden name (a simple, two syllable name that is also a common work) to make it easier on everyone.

My last name is suuuuper easy. People probably say it at least once a day in normal talk. But people spell it wrong allllll the time. And when I give a hosted or someone taking reservations my last name they look at me like I have 5 heads. And I am not exaggerating.
And I think the Starbucks cup is Starbucks people being Starbucks people they make wrong names on purpose.
Our last name always gets spelled wrong. I kept my maiden name for 6 months for this reason. In the only 3 jobs I've had, there have been issues with spelling my lastname with all of them.
I get Nicole sometimes. All N names are the same, I guess. But more often people will call me Hannah or Anna or Sarah or something else soft/Biblical/girly and when I correct them, they say "Oh, you don't look like a Natalie. You're definitely a Hannah." Ok, weirdo.
I love the misspellings. Switching the T for a D is common (Nadily.)
