Yay! I was hoping for a good update! I hate that you will be further from me (and that you lost the deposit money on the first place), but the place looks lovely. I can't wait to see it! Plus, you are somewhat close to a good Mexican restaurant in Notting Hill (Crazy Homies).
Oh I love it! And what a great location (this one is in Paddington? And #1 was in Kensington? No?). Can I be super nosy and ask what your rent is? We lived zone 3, and three of us SHARED a ONE ROOM flat, and it was just insanely expensive. I adore London, though, and would live like a student again in a heartbeat if it meant living in my favorite city.

Did I not say up-post somewhere already? Sorry, I've had some wine and can't remember It's 475GBP/week, original asking was 450GBP. I have no idea why it's so "cheap" relatively speaking. DH is convinced something must be wrong with it. UnderProtest noticed that I might have an Eames rocking chair and dining room chairs though so it can't all be bad. And yes, this one is in Paddington vs. the one I dropped being in Kensington.
DH, ever money minded, suggested I let the person who lost #2 know about #1 and try to get the 900GBP from him, LOL.
I have no idea how three people would share the 1BR flats around here. Most are so small! This one is palatial in this price range.
That's not bad!
Our flat was in a Victorian semi-detached house. We had one large room with a bunk bed and a twin bed. There were two wardrobes against the walls, plus a small dresser that our TV sat on (an ancient model from the 80s). We had a tiny loveseat, and a small dining table with two chairs. The "kitchen" was literally in a closet. They had walled a corner of the flat off at an angle, put in a few cabinets, a mini stove, a sink, and a 1/2 fridge and closed it in with a sliding door. We shared a shower and toilet with three other flats. BUT, we were living the high life, because we had a garden flat - our French doors opened up onto a little concrete patio, and a wildly overgrown backyard:)
For all of that luxury in NW3, we paid 125GBP per person, per week, and that was years ago. So wow, I feel like you got a deal. Or we were sublimely ripped off because we were stupid Americans. The rest of the house was filled with working holidaymakers, too, so I think that was his angle.
Lolo does have a great point! So how many trips to the airport do you have to take to even out with the deposit loss?
So a few people have mentioned the ease and speed of getting to Heathrow from Paddington station. But on TripAdvisor some people were saying that the Heathrow Express is kind of expensive and sharing a car service would be cheaper. Maybe that's with 3+ people though. I think it might have been cheaper to take the tube from Kensington to Heathrow, albeit longer. I don't know, I have to actually look into it more. Soon, actually, as DH is coming next week to visit!
I looked for man child yesterday. It was about 20 GBP per person one way, but that was last minute. Not sure if its cheaper if you book ahead. Most things are.

Check out Heathrow connect service. Just an extra stop or two and cheaper.
Wow! This is SOOOO much nicer than my apt. when I lived there!
How long ago were you here? Can you tell me anything about Paddington? Especially good places to eat and shop for groceries.
I lived there in 1997, so it's been a good while. I lived in Canning Town, which is near the Plaistow tube stop in the East End, so I don't really know anything about Paddington. Sorry!
