I love Charlotte, but it has such a different feel than Harper that I don't really love them together. I don't think I would use a super classic name with Harper.
I actually like Sloane, but apparently I am in the minority.
Reese and Addison both seem pretty trendy and overused to me. DS1 has two Reeses in his class, and DS2 and DS3 each have one.
Also... Regardless of which way you swing personally, I would be hesitant to name a kid Reagan just because it might come off as politically charged.
Or maybe it's just my area that all of the super conservative Republicans all name their kids Reagan. lol
I like Reagan. My cat's name is actually Reagan, lol. We are very liberal in our house, fwiw, but ppl do comment on what they assume to be our political leanings. I can only imagine this would be worse with a kid since it's not a cat.
sxia yep, a family name. We did have Rowan on our list, but I wasn't sure if it was too uncommon. Perhaps we'll reconsider
I was just about to suggest Rowan instead of Reagan. A very good friend of mine just used that name for her daughter. Wouldn't touch Reagan because of the political-ness, but loved Rowan. I think she really liked the meaning of it too, but of course I don't remember at the moment.
H keeps giving me helpful (read: ridiculous) explanations, such as "we can't use Audrey because of the lady on 24 and she looks like a horse."
DH is like this too. I really love the name Micah for a boy, and he's like "I dated a girl in high school who's brother's name was Micah, so that's out." Really?!
I like Sloane the best. I'm over Charlotte unless you call her Lottie
Names (that I've used) Catherine Winnie (not professional enough? I had an OB named Honey! Wilhelmina (I know that's on everyone's list!) Caroline Therese Tess Maren/Merryn/Marin Elizabeth Adrienne Francine Ada
bowies fun fact, I love Kennedy and it was on my list for a long time and then I made the presidential connection and pulled it. How it didn't occur to me about Reagan is beyond me. I really do love both names though!
We know people with daughters named Kennedy and Reagan, and it drives H nuts. Every time their names come up he starts going off about how it is impossible for the same couple to like both presidents enough to name a kid after them. "Are they Republicans or Democrats? I don't understand!" He cannot wrap his mind around the fact that some people use these names with no regard for their presidential bearers.
bowies Delaney was our #2 name when we were deciding for DD1 and then BIL snatched it up for my niece 7 months later
Dang that's not even a popular name!
Right?! I think it was like #273 on the SS list for 2011 and we never leaked any names while we were deciding so it was totally coincidental. I will admit to being a little sad we couldn't use it this time.
