I'm a ball of nervous energy. Thankfully work is keeping me busy.
I admire you going to yoga, gt7301b. I haven't gone to the gym or yoga at all this week, just a few short runs. I'm too worried about tweaking something at the last minute.
I decided to work a half-day from home tomorrow so I can visit the expo.
I'm not sure if I can come to brunch on Saturday. My ILs are arriving at our house in the early afternoon, and someone needs to be there to let them in, while the other person takes our son to swim lessons.
I'm feeling pretty shitty. I had a sore throat for a few days which seems to be going away, but now I feel nauseous. My tummy is a little iffy and I don't know whether to force myself to eat or if that will make me puke. Blah. Sorry to be a downer. My legs feel damn good at least.

Don't jinx me I did yoga last week and I felt really good, so I'm hoping it works the same way today. I'm just not going heavy on the ab stuff, cause that does sometimes cause me more soreness than I'd like a couple of days before the marathon.
I hope you can swing lunch, we just gave my IL's a key so they can let themselves in when they come to visit
Thanks! I'm sure I'll be okay. It's probably my body just reacting to the couple days of not much food. I forced down some Greek yogurt and goldfish. If that stays settled I'll eat a decent lunch.
It's blowing in your nicer weather! You want that wind today. Race day looks okay!
ETA: Feel better, cinco! There are plenty of bland carby things you can eat.
I'll stick with your forecast that says race day looks okay. The one I looked at called for winds that are similar to today.
Yes, do that! LOL I don't know. I just peeked at DC forecast (weather.com) for Saturday and it has 9 mph winds. It says that they are 19 today and 17 on Sunday. This is my observation from way down here in FL, but if it's better than what you've seen, just believe FL.

whispers..... the race is Sunday
Well shit, I'm an asshole. LOL! I thought it was on Sunday, but then you were all talking about half days at work on Friday, and when I looked at the race, the first date that popped up was 10/25, so I thought it was a weird Saturday race. I clearly see now that the MARATHON is Sunday. It's okay!!! Even more of a reason to embrace the wind right now. It will just blow it all through early.
ETA: I was trying to be positive for you. I trust wind forecasts even less than rain forecasts, though.

Yeah, I'm worried about the wind. I don't know how accurate this is, but Weather Underground has an hourly forecast for Sunday. They think the winds won't be too bad at the start, but they'll get stronger as the morning goes on.

You aren't an asshole, I appreciate the positivity and still prefer your forecast to mine.
I'm taking a half day Friday, cause my productivity is rapidly decreasing and I imagine it will be non-existent by tomorrow afternoon. So I might as well not be sitting in the office
Another ball of nerves checking in. I'm sure the 1.5 donuts I ate this morning aren't helping. I can't believe it's already Thursday.
Knee is touch and go. Good news is that whatever is going on with it seems to come and go (mostly go after like 3 miles) and I've decided it's also unrelated to the fall on Saturday. Pain is in the wrong spot.
Dress rehearsal was...not awesome. Did 2 miles @ mp but it felt hard. Was also super paranoid about falling.
I still think I can go sub 4, but I might need a little race day magic and maybe a pacer circa 22. Lolz.
Forgot about an appointment I ah e after work today. Will be hitting up the expo tomorrow during the day.

So, run like hell and try and get to Hains Point before the win picks up?
ebeth, you've got this! Goal pace always feels much harder in training than on race day.

I'm almost considering running with a pace group so I can draft off of them. I want to start a little ahead in the corral though, so I'm not stuck behind a wall of people. I wonder how long it will take for a pace group to catch up to me. I feel like this is one of those math problems from middle school -- If you start out running a 9:15 mile, and someone xx feet behind you is running a 9:00 mile, how long until they catch up to you? Before Haines Point?

I think i lined up with the 4:10-4:15/20 group last year and never saw a pacer. I had to stop to pee at Hains Point and then at mile 21/22 (wherever that big overpass is where there are NO crowds) the 4:15 pacer passed me.

I had another good interval jog today. @vtcupcake I talked with my PT and she suggested counting back from the finish line however far I think I can run doing intervals, and walk the whole way until then. That way I'll save my energy to "finish strong" rather than wearing out early. Even though it's not the race I wanted... I'm glad the timing worked out so that I can do the 10k at all (2 weeks ago, would have been a total no-go). I am getting excited! Is the expo totally crazy late Friday?

I don't think you even need to worry about the pace group, there will be a enough people running your pace you can just find a nice tall guy to tuck in behind. I did this at a race on July 4th and then blew the guy away when we turned around.
The wind forecasts don't look as bad today. Not ideal, but not like yesterday. I'm feeling optimistic ETA: www.runningweatherman.com/2014/10/marine-corps-marathon-2014-weather-forecast/ In case you guys haven't seen this mile 1 should be an extra PITA this year. Watch your step. I would totally be the one to twist an ankle at mile 1. You should see me trail run :/

Wait, what's the deal with mile one?
ETA: Nevermind. I'm dumb. I just looked at the link.
My son is on his THIRD cold in 2 weeks. I got the first two, so I expect to get sick again. Need to get more zinc and airborne...

They are doing construction. Cue freak out #%#%! One lane is closed in Rosslyn and there is uneven footing. There is a picture in the link.
