I've had it for 10 years. When DH and I got married, I made him subscribe in the car we now use (we're a 1 car family). I know that when I first had it, I was paying $10/month. It's crept up slowly since then, I think last time we renewed it was up to $14/month. I guess once it hits $20/month, I'll start negotiating for a lower rate, but I'm actually OK with what we're paying now. I originally started subscribing when I was moving away from home, and wanted to be able to follow my baseball team. That's still the case, and even though DH mentioned something about cancelling the subscription, I'm not going to give it up. I let him cancel Direct TV, and there are times I'm still pissed about it; I'm keeping my XM.
I listen to MLB a lot, Alt Nation, Lithium, XMU, 80's on 8, and 90's on 9. I'll occasionally switch over to Raw Dog comedy, although I don't care for the format since the XM/Sirius merger. DH listens to a lot of classic rock stations, and complains incessantly about the signal fading out (we live in an area where there aren't many signal boosters) and that's why he wants to cancel. I've told him he's welcome to switch over to terrestrial radio and all the commercials, but I'll keep my XM.
Yes. I got hooked during my free trial! I let it expire and didn't renew for six months, then the ILs got me a year's subscription for Christmas last year. I have a 45-min one-way commute, and it's really nice for that. I also used to drive alone to visit my mom once or twice a year (nine hours each way, much of which doesn't get good radio signals). Not sure I'll do that as much with a baby.
Make sure you're not paying more than $100/year. They charge exorbitant rates when you auto-renew, but all you have to do is ask for a lower price and they grant it immediately IME. (I'm like the most negotiation-averse person ever and have easily gotten the rate lowered by 50%!)
My favorite stations are 80s on 8, 90s on 9, The Pulse (15, pop), The Spectrum (28, rock, I guess?), Lithium (34, 90s alternative), and Alt Nation (36, current alternative). 75% of the time I'm on Spectrum or Lithium.
ETA: I see the negotiation thing has been covered. Lol
This thread reminded me to call and renew my subscription. I've had it for 2 years and I love it. Hits 1, 90s on 9, and Pulse are my go to channels. DD1 loves the Disney channel and I don't mind listening to it. I was able to get it renewed for 1 year for around $8 per month.
