It won't help. Because his name is still on the mortgage loan, he is responsible for that mortgage to be paid and to be paid on time. There's nothing he can do except to beg exW to refinance in her name only which in my short time working in mortgages...never happens. If I were in that situation, I would push to sell that house cheaper just to get out of it and move on with his life.
Ugh, this sucks. As part of the divorce settlement, his name was removed from the Title and the loan was left in both names. She was given 90 days to either refinance or list the house for sale. She has the house on the market, but for WAY more than she'd ever get. She has satisfied the divorce agreement by listing the house and there isn't a damn thing we can do about it. Ugh.
I'm sorry, but I think your H got the short end of this deal. He has full obligation to pay the mortgage and no control over the house. I would seriously consider consulting another attorney to see if there is a way to modify the agreement; otherwise, she could keep his credit score low for the entire life of the mortgage.

Why in the world did he ever agree to that? He is now responsible for the loan and has no claim to the home he is paying for. Did he not have a lawyer?
And yes, he is still responsible for the payment and no the credit reporting agencies don't give a crap about the sob story--bill wasn't paid, his fault for not making sure it was paid.
