Ugh. If you don't want to give out candy then don't.
ETA: either give out none at all or give candy to everyone (until you run out). You cannot cherrypick which kids get candy or "bar" them from entering your street.

FUCK THIS LADY.
People come from other neighborhoods for the same reasons Pru said. The only thing that pissed me off last year was the asshole who rang my bell before I turned my light on. THAT IS NOT HOW THIS WORKS.
I was inclined to skip candy this year, but this snatch's letter has me considering buying double candy.

Even if I hated this on principle (I do not), the last thing I need is a bunch of leftover candy in my house to stuff my face with. Children of the world, I welcome thee to my home. Take all the candy you need.

WTF, yo? Some people travel to ToT b/c their area is mostly apartments and those don't usually do candy. Some because they're just crappy neighborhoods for ToT that are filled with scrooges. Some travel in search of the "big score" aka full sized candy bar.
I, for one, would LOVE IT if kids from other hoods overran ours on Halloween ToTing. Knowing the two bags of candy I have will be more than enough is depressing.

She pays taxes for social services dude. So there! This attitude is what scares me when some Republicans say we should just rely on churches and charities to make up the gaping holes in the safety net.

Man, I LOVE when the kids from other neighborhoods come. Our development is so small. Bring them by the truckload! Otherwise, what ever will we do with these Milky Ways, Snickers, PB cups?
I mean, really. What's she going to do to determine who is a proper resident there and who is not? Will she ask to see some ID? Inquire which elementary school they attend? Ask where they're going to Finishing School?
She must buy only 20 candy bars for those that live on her street. I'm going to ignore the more likely assumption I have, that she assumes everyone that doesn't look like her is from a poor neighborhood.
She's probably not really part of the 1% but more the struggling 1.5 or 2% and buying that candy for the Po's is going to break the bank. I hope this stupid NIMBY is overrun by kids dressed as lower-middle-class teenagers carrying pillowcases to hold their candy.
TBF, lys is always pro-poor person in these threads.
Why should the people who have worked hard have to subsidize the junk food habits of the children who didn't? Rather if these people would just save their money in some conservative accounts instead of spending it on costumes and gas to travel to the rich side of town they'd probably be able to afford a nicer house in a better area for TOTing in just a few short years.

That's not her stance. It's really not. (Unless she comes in here and says different.) She's fairly consistent with all of these.

In all seriousness, you have to be King Asshole of Assholeland to deny kids who dare come into your safe neighborhood candy. The nerve of those kids to live in unsafe neighborhoods but still want to enjoy Halloween!

My parents street/neighborhood has the influx of all the city's trick-o-treaters. This is because 1) there are 3 churches not even a mile down the road that do hayrides/etc and those kids come trick or treating 2) the street is blocked off for about 2 miles by the police so there are no cars to contend with and 3)the people on my parents street give out some of the best candy. Every year my parents purchase like 5 100-count boxes of blow-pops and give until they are gone.
It never occurred to me growing up that some of those kids "shouldn't" trick or treat in MY neighborhood...its just what happened.

Me too. Our neighborhood is pretty active, but we live on the very edge with the old people and all the action is near the middle. It's too bad; the old people LOVE the kiddos and always give tons of great candy to the three kids that venture down.
