What things do you and DH do together in the evenings? Specifically after you put the kids to bed. DH and I are in a rut of either watching TV or playing on phones/ipads and not really interacting. I need some ideas.
We're in a TV rut right now too; things have been so busy work-wise it's the only thing either of us want to do at night. When things are less stressful we play board games and in the winter I make H do a lot of puzzles with me (not sure why the winter only, seems like a snow day activity).
Video games, watching something we can talk about, moving to the kitchen to make snacks which leads to chatting in the kitchen, gossip (one of my favorites), group chat with out of state friends online, plan projects.
We are working our way through a bunch of TV series, esp. mini-series, on DVD or Hulu+ (GoT, Orphan Black, The Wrong Mans, are some recent ones). We share a bottle of wine almost every night and it's nice to pick a series together and watch/discuss the episodes. I guess that's a rut, but we like it and it's a little different than just turning on the TV and watching whatever's on.
We used to play Scrabble. Sometimes we bake or prepare freezer meals together, but that's usually over the weekend.
- read side by side - craft (haha!) - play a game - bake cookies - hot tub - home project - talk about some random topic - research a vacation, interest, company/stock together
want to hear something really stupid? we have a guy with whom we are both very close. there are some nights where we sit next to each other and have entire texting conversations with this third person dh and i talk to each other and we each text friend from our own phones and get all silly. it's dumb.
see "group chat with friends from out of state" lol! It's fun! Sometimes you need to get creative with being social at the end of a long day.

We're in a pretty big rut too, but I feel like TV and playing with our phones/tablets is all we have mental energy for. At least we're watching shows we DVR'd that we specifically want to watch together?
And what is this Phase 10 people are talking about? jlt19frkls

Brew beer, build furniture.
Right now we're trying to rig some LEDs into DS's Darth Vader costume belt. Well, H is doing most of the work, I just hold/get things when he asks, meanwhile, I'm sewing some LED wire into a hoodie for him.
We watch sports together sometimes - it's more fun than a TV show because we can discuss what's happening, make up silly chants, it's a little more interactive. Neither of us are die hard fanatics which to me makes it more fun because it's casual.
Other than that, we just watch movies, talk about random stuff we're reading on the internet, or sometimes play a board or video game. At least once a week we usually do something outside of the house that's fun, so I'm actually ok with most nights being pretty low key.
We play pool/air hockey. DH just bought a dart board so we'll be adding that in as something fun to do. We also have budget meetings (I realize this is only fun to some people) to see where we are headed financially. We have a lot of board/card games but don't really use them much. I just know as soon as I sell/donate them, though, someone will want to play something, so they sit on their bookshelf. Sometimes we'll do some travel planning.

Mostly we just hang out in front of the TV, but sometimes we will walk the dog, take a bike ride or sit in the backyard and enjoy the weather (obviously only when the weather cooperates.
