This post is inspired by a post I just saw on CEP-
Do you guys get a lot of trick-or-treaters? Are they mostly from your neighborhood? Do you stay in your neighborhood or do you hit up a better area?
When I was growing up we also hit up the nice areas. The housing development right across the street from us was home to quite a few professional basketball and footballs players. They always gave out the best candy- full candy bars, sodas, etc.
We didn't get a lot of kids at our house last year unfortunately. We just moved so I have no idea if we will get many kids this year. Depending on the weather I may take the kids to the mall to get candy so they don't have to be out in the cold.
We just moved, so I am unsure of this area. I think we are going to go back to our old neighborhood and trick or treat with our neighbors and their kids then hang out over there for a bit. DH has to work
Growing up we stayed in our neighborhood- we were 1 of 4 courts in a row. We would hit all 4 and the development across the street, it was a giant circle, then head home and sort through our loot.
We'd go with all the neighborhood kids- we'd all run ahead while the parents walked and talked and drank it makes sense- it was freezing out!
Funny how things come full circle. I carry my solo cup of wine with the other moms and the kids skip along ready to grab more candy.

We tot in our neighborhood. Lots of families passing out candy as they have older kids. We don't pass out candy as my kids tot forever-we were out from 530-8 last year and had a ridiculous amount of candy.
We get a decent amount - but nothing crazy. 100ish? Really, I have no idea. Maybe I'll count this year.
We trick or treat for about an hour, just on our street and a few other houses adjacent - but our block is standalone and has 48 houses (twins, so close together). No one really starts until dusk and we get trick or treaters until about 8:30/9.
Some people go to "better" streets/neighborhoods, but many already live there in our town. A few little sections are known for decorations, candy, etc.
We live up a dirt road in the woods and only have two neighbors. We don't get ToTers. We take the kids to Trunk or Treat at my parents' church and to a few family members houses.

I think we are trunk or treating here too in Saturday. It will be our first time going.
We get a ton of kids but that's because we live across the street from an elementary school. We didn't tot last year when DS was 7 mo but this year I plan to tot at the mall or outlets with another mom friend and her 18 mo. I love passing out candy so we stocked up big time!!

I have no idea, but there are a fair number of kids in the neighborhood. I usually put out a bowl of candy - some years it's gone, some years I have a lot left. We always go to my parents' house. My mom goes all out, and their neighborhood gets a TON of TOTers. We eat pizza, drink wine, hit up a few houses, but mostly DD likes handing out candy with my mom and seeing all the kids.
This will be our second halloween in our new house, but last year we only had about 10 kids. I was sad! And one group came at 4pm, before I was ready at all!
This is will be the first year I take my DS to ToT, I'll probably just go to a couple of neighbors houses. We don't even have a mall close by. I wish it was a bigger deal here!

We have a lot of houses on our block, but they are far apart---so we tend to take Reese to a neighboring town with her friends. (It is her friend's neighborhood) Unfortunately, i think she will miss trick or treating this year.
We get approximately 0 t-o-t'ers. We live on a steep wooded dark road. It wasn't even paved when I was growing up, and it's still only paved for the first quarter mile. It's supposedly haunted, it's been written up in the paper, etc. And there are no sidewalks.
There are maybe 8 houses in the first quarter mile and there are only 2-3 kids. So growing up we always went to the condo's or a development.
We don't take the kids t-o-t'ing yet. We do an event with DS1's school tomorrow where we t-o-t in a hotel here. Other than that, we just stay in and DH and I eat the junk food.

We get hundreds of ToTers. We live in the center of town with sidewalks and street lights. The houses are all 100+ years old with mature trees so it has a spooky feel. We will take the kids out this year but just to our closest neighbors.
My parents usually come over to help with the ToTers so we can get the kids to bed. If its nice out dh and I sit on the front porch and drink wine once our kids are asleep.
I would be freaked out if we had a TOTer. We're in the woods, so yea, not here lol. But my dad's birthday is Halloween so we've always gone there anyway and since we've had DS it's even more perfect since we can just TOT there. They live in a pretty populated area so they get a ton.
When we first moved here I was a little sad that, obviously, we wouldn't be having TOTers and wouldn't decorate or anything (I mean, I guess I could, but it's pointless lol), but it's actually good because I tend to go overboard so we save a good amount of money not going crazy with pumpkins, etc, and candy
We TorT in our neighborhood, with our neighbors and wine as well. DH is working this year as well, but we are doing drinks and pizza with the neighbors.
Our house is up a steep road and our driveway is long and steep too so we've never gotten a single trick or treater. We spend most of the week in a rental to be close to DHs work so I think we will do halloween there this year. Apparently they shut down the street and parents eat and drink while the kids roam.

There are several churches in our area that do it, but their church members really get into it. They go all out decorating their cars and dressing up. It's crazy how many families participate. We get a TON of candy.

We get a lot by my standards, maybe 100 kids? We have run out of candy every year by 7:00. Confession: I'm not buying more candy. I put up a sign and turn off my light around 7:00 and that's A-Okay with me.
My kid is 2, so it's our second year TOTing. Last year we did our block on our side only, mostly to pimp the costume and say hellos. We may graduate to around the block this year.

I ran out of my 300 piece bag within an hour, last year. I'll be getting at least 500 pieces this year. I just let my kids go to the houses right around us. As they get older, they can do more. I have no idea if we got kids from other neighborhoods, but I don't care. If you ring my doorbell, I will give you candy.
I've never lived anywhere that gets ToTers. I grew up on a ranch, moved to long beach for 10 years where I lived in apartments with back/courtyard entrances and now we're back on the ranch. It makes me a little sad that I never get to pass out candy.
(My kids aren't deprived though, we've gone out with friends the last 2 years)

I never had ToTers growing up either and I was so jealous of people who got to do hand out candy. When we bought this house and found out how crazy halloween is my parents were so excited and come over every year to help hand out candy. I honestly hope the next neighborhood we buy in isn't this insane.
