Really? I think it makes her look silly, like she doesn't get the joke. The parallel structure of her response makes it look like she considers it insulting to not be called slutty. He's not making fun of her; he's making fun of all the "slutty ____" costumes.

If she would've replaced funny with hunky, at least it would've been a little better, since he prides himself on his humor andhas never ever claimed to be good looking.
Or:
I wanted to dress up as my favorite comedian, but the store only had Conan O'Brien costumes left.
I was going to go as Conan O'Brien, but NBC advised me to wait it out for a Jimmy Fallon costume instead.
This response reminds me of George Costanza and his jerkstore comeback line. BRW, how do you know that he has "never ever claimed to be good looking"? Are you guys close friends?
I really like Conan, but I gotta say, I had to unfollow him on Twitter for a few things he said. I think the final straw was something about plus-size female store mannequins causing the "regular-sized" male mannequins to have second thoughts.
Also, I just searched for him on Twitter to see if I could pull up an older Tweet that I didn't like, and this came up in the search results. AHHHHHHHH:
I've been reading her books lately. If I had to pick one of these two people to be listed as consistently self depreciating about their looks and also with an excellent sense of humor. .. it wouldn't be Conan.

He makes fun of his looks all the time. Pale skin, red hair, tall and gangly, etc. Another recent tweet from him: "My neighbors criticized me for putting a pumpkin out too soon. I had to tell them that was just me looking out the window."
ETA: I have no beef with MA and it's really cool that she's not too uptight to respond to a pop culture icon on twitter... I just don't think it was humorous.
