We did and our guests really loved it. I got a lot of comments on it after the wedding. We just stocked up from Old Navy during their $1/pair sale. It wasn't a huge expense.
ETA: And we didn't have a single pair left at the end of the night.
I doubt this is something I'd use. Part of it, though, probably depends on the time of year. Cooler months? I'm probably in hose and wouldn't be able to wear flip-flops. warmer months? Eh, who knows, maybe.
Only if your venue requires that atendees have shoes on at all times. For my friend's wedding, this was written into their contract. She ended up buying a bunch of flip flops at Old Navy during their $1 flip flop sale.
My friend just did it with flip flops she got at Old Navy clearance. She even did the galvanized bucket with the pinteresty sign that said "dancing shoes". It was cute and appreciated because I usually end up just drunk and barefoot.
My cousin had this at their wedding. I was so thankful because I had new shoes on that were KILLING my feet. I have never been so happy to wear cheap flip flops in my life. She had them in a basket in the bathroom with a sign that said "dancing shoes". She got them at the ON sale.
If I know I'm wearing uncomfortable/ super-high-heeled shoes, I usually bring a back up pair of flats. I think most people are familiar with the amount of dancing/standing that happens at weddings, and will plan their footwear accordingly.
I think your money would be better spent elsewhere.
Full disclosure: I have a huge clown feet, and you probably wouldn't provide my size, so maybe I'm just bitter?
I think it's a cute idea. And really, unless you are inviting 300 people to your wedding, you can stock up at the Old Navy $1 per pair sale and at most, will be out like $50-$75. Worst case scenerio, no one takes them and you just donate them to a local Women's Charity.
But dont you think a reasonably functioning woman can decide to bring an alternate shoe choice if her first are so painful they dont last the night?
I am guilty of this. I bought new heels for a wedding. They seemed really comfortable. They were fine during the ceremony and by the time the reception started, I wanted to cry. I will never buy Fergie shoes again!
I'm inclined to say no just because it will be hit or miss if anyone uses them. However, I had flip flops at my SILs wedding (since I was in the wedding party, I had my clothes with me) and I changed into them to dance and I have never been so happy in my life! But of course, now I just bring a pair of flats with me when I got to weddings. So again, it is a toss up.
I had women at our wedding take their shoes off and just dance barefoot. Everyone was boozy and no one seemed to mind. And I think dancing in cheap flip flops is awkward.
I went to one wedding where they were provided, but ran out & I heard some complaining (we were in college).
Another wedding, they were provided, but no one took them.
I'm heading to a wedding soon where I'd probably like them. The shuttle picks us up at the hotel, shuttles to reception, then goes back to the hotel. I'll already have junk for my two little ones, so I won't want to carry anything else, but my dressy shoes were cheap and, while OK to wear if I'm by myself, will not be comfortable at the end of a day full of carrying my 14 month old around!

I had a tented reception outdoors on my uncle's lawn so I bought about 40 pairs in varying sizes from the Old Navy sale. We had 3 left over at the end of the night. My were able to get them in my wedding colours too (purple, navy and green)
A lot of women wore flats or wedges but many of the younger girls wore crazy heels for reasons unknown and changed into the flip flops.
We had 125 guests so there wasn't a pair for every person there.

I wouldn't for guests, but I was in a wedding where the bride did this for the bridal party. It was great to be able to switch to flip flops for the dance floor (and the shoes she picked for us were extremely uncomfortable, so it was definitely appreciated lol).
