I usually hate this kind of comment, but really... this is news? THIS? I imagine this happens daily across the country, and it really just doesn't matter. At all.
also this? made me lol. thinking it was a girl for all of 5 minutes is something that she didn't think ever happened? lol
I keep explaining it as an out-of-body experience. The video is truly the only way I can see what actually happened because I think I was in shock!” Natalie said. “This is the stuff you joke about with people … I didn’t think it ever actually happened to anyone! My body language in the video says it all.”
Also, I love how the "story" is written as though there was some level of suspense and confusion as to who was right--the ultrasound technician/radiologist... or the bakery? OMG, who do we trust? LOLOL.

I'm irrationally annoyed at this whole thing. Again, I hate to be that person, but... if this is the worst thing that happens to you during pregnancy, you are very, very lucky.

Well, local news. My local radio station had a story on getting a new flagpole downtown for special event flags.
I know. It's just reminding me why local news drives me insane. I'm definitely not as up on current events as I should be, and I won't pretend to be, but gah local TV news is drivel.

Don't be a downer, catbus! Just take this opportunity to mock gender reveal parties!
Oh trust me, I am hardcore mocking in my head. I'm resisting saying several things about the type of person for whom a (quickly resolved, at that) gender-reveal error would be such a big deal.

This is my fear with sex reveal parties. Also, my co-worker's niece had this happen - pink cake, baby came out a boy. The tech wrote boy on a pink post-it, which evidently completely and utterly confused the baker.
If I were ever going to find out my baby's sex prior to the birth, I would just demand the tech show me the parts on the screen with no doubt in his/her mind.
Although I know two people for whom that didn't exactly work either.

First I'm quoting b/c I love that Whitney gif.
Second, I was sort of thankful we had 2 more ultrasounds after the a/s one. One was a regular one b/c they needed a better heart measurement and the other was an elective 3D. So we had 2 more chances to confirm a girl.
ETA:
catbus, that news channel is local to me. Why they picked up the story who knows. We don't watch that channel though.
Did she say it was the worst thing ever? It sounds like she just got a shock, which I can understand.
But I'm an asshole who had a gender preference both times.
Like I said in my 1006th reply in this thread, LOL, I didn't actually watch the video. My annoyance is based purely on the text of the story. It makes it sound like this was an earth-shaking revelation that made them question everything they knew. That's par for the course with local news, though.

Yeah lol at this being such a HUGE issue in your life. I was so hoping they mixed it up because it was twins or something. At least that would be a little better than thinking you are having a girl for 5 seconds and then ooops I mean boy. What about the people who think it's a girl until they deliver?
Maybe bakery had two gender reveal cakes and they got mixed up! Across town is a blue cake and people really having a girl thinking it is a boy.
I'd be too nervous adding in another party to relay this information. It's like a game of telephone or something. The further away from the source the more likely the screw up of info.

Lol, this is pretty hilarious actually and why I won't have a "party" that probably no one cares about.
Also...we found out at 20 weeks that DS was a boy then had a growth ultrasound at 34 weeks. DH asked the doctor who did the ultrasound if we were *sure* it was a boy and doc in a monotone, bored voice said, "Yep, I see testicles" then moved on with his day. Ha, good times.

And those people just laughed it off without reporting it to the local news.
I'm just glad she didn't do what a "friend" of ours did. As soon as they found out it was a girl she jumped up a d down screaming saying how much she didn't want a boy and told everyone the girls name. Had it been wrong that would have been awkward....
