I hope it's OK that I ask this question here - I am not really sure where it belongs.
I had a mm/c at 9 weeks and a D&C on Sept 16th; I was told the baby stopped growing around 8.5 weeks. I had some bleeding/spotting for about 10 days afterwards so now I am waiting for my first period. I read somewhere that it can take 4 - 6 weeks, but at this point I am pretty frustrated that it's still MIA. I know I should probably wait longer before I get concerned, but for the past week or two I'd had slight cramping/muscle pain and I am not sure what it might be.
I guess my question is how long did it take for your first cycle after a m/c and/or D&C?
Love of my life baby boy born 11/11. One and done not by choice; 3 years of TTC yielded 4 MMC and 2 CPs, through 4 IUIs and 2 IVFs. Focusing on making the world a better place instead...and running.
Thanks, Mushe. I am so sorry that you've both had to go through this. Patience was never a virtue of mine, and now it's being tested like never before.
I had my D&C at 7 weeks and my period just showed up this week, 4 1/2 weeks after the D&C. Has your doctor been following your betas back down to 0? Mine said once I hit 0 I would get my period within the next two weeks. I got it within a week of being back down to 0.

Yes, I've been going weekly to get it tested. This week it was at 11. I want to scream that it's taking forever (see previous post about lack of patience). I'll go again next week and hope for the best.

I can totally relate! I didn't have betas tested, but took a few HPTs to track, and was so pissed off when it was still positive shortly before my period arrived.

That's like twisting the knife that is already in your heart. I'm so sorry (hug2)
((Hugs)) again. After my first D&C it took me only 28 days to get a period. But I only bled heavy for one day and then it took another 35-40 days to get a normal period for me. This time around I got it 42 days after I believe.
I'm so sorry it's taking a long time. I had a D&E at 20 weeks and it took 8 weeks for my period to come. Waiting is so hard!
Thanks, honeyspider. I have been meaning to tell you what a great resource Through the Heart has been. Thank you for starting such a great organization.

I'm so sorry for you loss.
My first mm/c was at 10.5 weeks, D&C at 11.5 weeks. AF came 5 weeks later (I had a positive HPT for 3 weeks post D&C).
My second m/c was at 8 wks and was natural. AF returned 37 days later.
My OB did say that it could take up to 8 wks for AF to return but I think 4-6 is more "normal"
So many ((hugs)) for you. Waiting is really hard (but really there isn't anything easy about this whole process). Praying that AF shows up soon so you can have some closure and start moving forward. Wishing you all the best with TTC and your next pregnancy.
I'm so sorry for your loss. For me, after my natural m/c, it took closer to 7 weeks to return to normal. With my D&C, it took about 4.5 weeks and I knew I was ovulating.

If there is anything I can do or if you ever want to talk, let me know!
You've had a lot of responses but I just wanted to add that I also had a m/c in august at 9 weeks. I had about a week of spotting after naturally m/c-ing and my period showed up just over 5 weeks later. Hang in there. The waiting to begin again was frustrating for me as well. We're in our first cycle back to trying. Hope all goes well for you and glad u have been able to find support!
