I logged into our employee HR system to see how many hours of PTO I have. I noticed that the paycheck that I will receive at the end of the month seemed higher than usual. It turns out that there is a $1,000.00 bonus added to it. I have no clue how or why I'm receiving this. Do I just enjoy the extra pay or do I contact someone to ask why I received it?

I would probably ask if I wasn't expecting it, just in case it was a mistake. I wouldn't want them to come looking for the money next month. Chances are it's not, and its just a great surprise!

I'd try to confirm just to make sure I wasn't spending money that is not mine. I work in HR and this happens very occasionally and even though it's our mistake, we go after the money.
I'm really trying to avoid my manager, so hopefully I will get a letter or something on pay day. You know how elementary school kids act when they are mad at their friend? That's how my manager has been treating me since we had a difference of opinion last week. So yeah...Hopefully I don't have to talk to her. Our disagreement happened after the cutoff for payroll changes, so I know it isn't termination pay or anything negative like that :-P

That was another fear of mine. I was just going to sit on the money, so if it is a mistake it will be NBD to me. I just don't know if I need to acknowledge that I received it.

I would want to know if it was mine or not. You could wait until pay day and see if anything happens between now and then. If not, I would be calling HR or at that point, hopefully you and your manager are communicating and you could ask.

This might be a good opportunity to reach out to your manager and try to patch things up. Even if you're not at fault, you have much more to gain by trying to smooth things over with the person you report to than she does.
You are completely right. I might post a new thread about it once I get home because I have to clue how to go about resolving it.
