So when I think of zofran I think of a poor soul who cannot stop puking. To the point of dehydration.
So is zofran only for those actively puking or can it be prescribed for just constant nausea?
Also does it help bring your hunger back? This force feeding crap is getting old.
Does it make you sleepy? Because I'm already exhausted enough as it is.
I have randomly had some really good days the past couple days and thought I was in the clear. But now I'm hovering over a trash can at work not getting anything done. I just want to cry and sleep.
I don't post here, but I saw you on the app. Ask for meds. I felt silly mentioning it at my appointment because I felt like it wasn't bad "enough" but my midwife told me that was dumb.
I have been taking diclegis since 9 weeks and am still on it. (17 weeks now.) It really helps.

Thanks. I feel silly asking for it too. I guess because nausea and vomiting are mostly a given for pregnancy so why complain. Dumb reasoning I guess.

It will constipate you worse than you can even imagine. I took it though. It only helped me stop puking for about an hour after taking, but I had extreme nausea and vomiting.

Ahh all this constipation talk! Boo. I'll be sure to take my colace along with it and hope for the best.

I was going to suggest trying diclegis also. It is basically a prescription version that is a combination of Unisom and B6. My doctor gave me some samples and a prescription when I told her I was nauseous at my eight week appointment. It's a category a drug so it's perfectly safe and it doesn't bind you up like zofran.

I didn't really vomit much during pregnancy but often felt nauseated. I work in the dental field, so certain smells would make me feel sick. Zofran really helped with that.

Yes - it's time-released and you can take up to 3 doses a day. It works a lot better than just Unisom + B6 for me. I felt like a zombie for the first 2-3 days, but once you adjust, it helps a lot.

DH mentioned to his mom tonight that my nausea is a lot worse than last time (he was over there for dinner). She had some zofran at her house that she wasn't taking and sent it home with wes. I've taken it before after I had my surgery. I feel weird taking a script drug without a doc consult but it's tempting.

I would! But obviously you have to make the decision yourself.
Ian took some of mine when he had a stomach bug and he had never even had it before..

Finally up for the day. Wes let me sleep in. I took half a pill with breakfast just now. MIL told me to take half a pill every 6 hours. We will see how well it works! Thanks for all the insight and tips.
i took it my whole pregnancy with Luke and didnt get constipated. I took it for about 2 weeks this time but then had some strange reaction where I started itching so I had to switch meds.
I may be biased but I wouldn't take someone else's prescription medication. Without talking to your doctor or a pharmacist, how do you know it doesn't have any interactions if you take other rx meds or OTCs or that it safe if you have other medical issues?
Also, there are other medications to try (Diclegis, for example) before jumping straight to Zofran.
I'm not really sure why in the U.S. doctors jump straight to Zofran, although I now Diclegis just recently came back on the market (it was never taken off the market in Canada as it wasn't ever actually unsafe)

Thanks for your insight. I'm not currently taking anything else except my prenatal vitamin. And I don't have any medical restrictions.
All that aside, I do still plan on calling my OB on Monday to see what he wants to give me. But I am taking it today so that I can get through my shift at work. I can't just keep going home early because I'm miserable.

Yeah, I wouldnt take someone else's rx. Zofran should be very easy for you to get from your ob.
I took it twice a day from week 6 to week 17. If I was having a really bad day I would take a 3rd pill around bedtime but that wasn't really needed after the other twin m/c.

Not to offend anyone, but it also isn't without risk to the fetus. There is increasing concern out there about it's use during pregnancy. I know a lot of people here swear but it but I wouldn't take it without a discussion of the risks and benefits with my OB.

Thanks again for taking the time to put in your input. I definitely don't intend to use it all willy nilly. And I've only taken half a pill so far. I will be calling my OB Monday morning.
