God this hand foot mouth looks so bad PIPs

Poor buddy. That looks a lot like E's at first. His got a lot worse on his mouth. His lip and chin were one big, red mess. It lasted about 10 days with the fever lasting 2 days.

Hope he's better soon.

Poor little guy! I'm so sorry you guys are dealing with this. Hope he's better very soon! We have not dealt with HFM, so I can't comment on his sores.

The worst of it (waking every hour with out of control itching) only lasted a day or two. But three weeks out, the skin on my kiddo's hands and feet are still peeling!

E never scratched. He did cry in pain when the started to scab/boil over. Hugs.

My DS had the blisters for 7-10 days and then they peeled and were still visible after that. But, they evolved and only looked like your son's for a few days -- then they started to dissipate. His symptoms only lasted a few days as well.

DS's blisters never scabbed over. Most were gone after a week or so. He had a fairly mild case with most of the blisters on his hands, trunk and groin (looked like diaper rash).

DD's blisters lasted about 10 days. Some of them left faint scars that took weeks to fade, but they were really not noticeable. They didn't seem to bother her at all throughout the whole course of the thing.

Poor kid! J's feet looked a lot worse than that. A couple of weeks out they were still peeling and then his toenails all fell off. It was months for that whole process! It was awful.

C had it and it last 10 days, although the bump (thankfully he didn't break out terribly) came day 3ish and was fading around day 8.

Poor guy! DD1 had it bad, with more spots in and around her mouth. She missed a Thursday and Friday of school, and was able to go back on Monday. Her whole class had it, and most of them had the scabs for a few days.

DD2's looked like this (the "day" is from when the rash appeared. The illness seemed to come on about 3 days prior to the rash):

She never scratched at it, but she did peel the skin once the blisters were healed and "loose." Which was for weeks afterward.

I hope he feels better soon Such a cutie.

The pedi told me that AJ was contagious as long as he was running a fever, and once he'd been fever free for 48 hours he could go back to the sitter's.  I think he had a fairly mild case because the fever didn't last long, and the hand/foot blisters popped up over the course of a couple of days but were almost gone a week later.  His hand blisters did look a lot like your kiddo's, but he got the blisters in his mouth/throat and none on his face.  Poor buddy

My son had it at 2 1/2 and it was extremely mild. He had some sores on the back of his throat and maybe a couple bigger spots and then a fine rash. I hope yours is the same.
