If you have a nanny, does she get vacation time? Is it paid? How many days does she get? How far in advance does she need to tell you about her vacation?
Trying to figure out the contract and can use some help.
Our nanny is part-time. We're able to be competitive in the vacation department to make up for only guaranteeing 24 hours of care a week.
She receives 1 week paid vacation. We ask that she schedule it a month in advance. She receives 1 week of personal time. We ask that this is scheduled two weeks in advance. She also receives 10 paid holidays off.
If it's helpful, I can share a copy of our contract (without any identifying information of course).
Yes. We give 2 weeks paid PTO, "reasonable" sick days (she's never taken more than 4 a year, and 10 days of paid holidays. We guarantee 45 hrs a week, so if we use less (rare) she still gets paid for those hours. We pay for any extra time outside of her regular schedule too .
Ours gets 10 days paid for sick or vacation and major holidays are paid. We also still pay her if we take vacation or don't need her like Christmas week.
Our nanny gets 5 weeks vacation (the same as we do). She takes 4 weeks in the summer and 1 at christmas and lets us know well in advance so that we can plan accordingly.
When I was a nanny it was the same. We also have sick days that are not counted as vacation days if there is a dr note (but it is covered by the social security system)
We pay ours only for hours worked. I feel like we pay a generous hourly rate for our market, and we'll pay the equivalent of one week for a year-end bonus.

My last nanny job gave me 5 sick/personal days, 5 vacation days, and they paid me anytime they didn't need me. It went a long way in making me feel valued.

My sister is our nanny so we don't have a contract or really set vacation guidelines, however we do always pay her for our vacation time when we don't need her. In addition, she has probably taken about 2 weeks off total in the last year and we pay her for all of that as well.
ETA: she usually gives really good notice when she wants time off. At least a month, if not longer. Luckily I do have a fairly flexible job and over 4 weeks of vacation time so we are generally able to accommodate time off.
