Our neighbor across the street started a lawn mowing 'business' this summer. He knows I was taking care of my mom this summer while she went through chemo/radiation, and taking care of our house while H was recovering from having 2 discs fused in his lower back.
About a month ago, he offered to mow our front yard for me at no charge, to take some of the burden off me. I've been giving them the extra strawberry jam, pumpkin butter, etc that I've made all summer, so it's been like a bartering thing. (I am thankful for my tight knit little neighborhood, and adore most of our neighbors.) He even said if I wanted to use his equipment to mow our back yard, I could. All I have to do is come get it. He's really a great guy. The first couple of times he mowed our lawn, it looked nice. He even has one of those lawn vacuums that sucks up the grass clippings.
He mowed again yesterday, and I think he lowered the blade on his mower. The grass so short you can see dirt. There are now bare spots of dirt in my lawn. Other spots have grass, but it looks...burned or dried out. These spots weren't there before he mowed.
My poor lawn. Thankfully, it's fall and the grass will go dormant soon. It'll recover in the spring, right?
