We were supposed to take family photos today with my old friend from hs. He didn't show up. I tried texting him and calling. He finally picked up 40 min later. Dude had overslept and was still at home one hour away.
We had decided to move on to another photographer but he was very apologetic and offered to reschedule and do them for free. We agreed since we have nothing to lose but more time but still might get another photographer later depending on how the pics turn out. Should we still give him a tip or something tomorrow? He was going to charge us $100. His typical session fee is $150. He's coming from 1 hour away.
You're supposed to tip a photographer? I wouldn't have anyway, but I wouldn't after he messed up. If the pics are great I might send him something after the fact.

No, I wouldn't tip but I am not sure now that there isn't a charge.
I would wait til you get the pictures back. We had an issue with one who no Showed and then when she did show up she didn't have everything she needed. She wasn't a friend but if I would have paid her upfront I'm not sure I would have received any pictures at all.
