Also, you guys, I am never running that 5k again. Holy unorganized. We were supposed to start 9:15, but it was delayed, and then they decided to have us do wave starts, which is fine, but I don't know why that wasn't communicated ahead of time.
A made it to 2 miles before he decided he was done with the stroller, thankfully we were right by our parking lot, so I just ran back to my vehicle. Best sighting of the day: a couple dressed up as Indiana Jones and the boulder that rolls after him. They had the Indiana Jones theme music playing as they were running, it was hilarious.
Can't wait to hear your race recaps @mn06 and thom!! We missed you breezy8407, hope you killed your race!
Great to meet you both too! Sorry about the cluster at your start. Your little guy is such a sweetheart.
We waited in giant bathroom lines and then I almost missed checking my bag, so I had a hard time getting in the right pace area. I ran a pretty even race, but lost steam in the last few miles (mostly when a killer side ache struck) and still didn't hit my 1:49 goal. Sigh. I knew I hadn't had great training the last few months, but I thought I would be closer. 1:52:00 even. Live to run another day I guess. The sun also got pretty intense at the end. I'm such a wimp to say that, but I was hot!
I didn't see Breezy, but I'll bet she did awesome. Hope your race went well too @mn06! It was fun to bump into you mid-race.
Here's a few pics. (I can delete later if either of you wish. Let me know.)

Good job guys!
Sorry I missed you. We were later than I wanted and I was in the porta potty when the gun went off!
Overall it went okay. I had a side stitch the whole race, so I had trouble getting into a good rhythm. I missed a pr by 6 seconds so that was a bummer. It was fun dressing up. We were a group of 5 Harlem Globetrotters. My SIL made the costumes and she did a great job. I will see if I can post a pic later.
I'm soo glad I got to meet you guys too and I hope we can get together again sometime! Seriously awesome girls. And I just noticed that thom is standing on her tippy toes in the second picture. Lol.
Like mentioned above, we were stuck in the portapotty lines for about 20 minutes, give or take, so it ended up being a hustle to the start line. My sister and BIL were running too and I glanced around in the start area to see if I could find them, but there were so many people and the race had started so I just went with the crowd.
I started out at about an 8:30/mile pace which is on the fast side for me. I should have been around 8:45 for what I've been training at. But it felt fine and I held it for the first 7-8 miles.
That's when I hit a wall or something. Miles 8-11.5 seemed to be gradually all uphill and my legs just decided they were done. My pace gradually crept to 9:30/mile and I couldn't get it back up.
Other than checking my pace, the only time I looked at my actual time was at mile 12 and it said I was at 1:48:xx so I knew I'd make my sub-2 goal and at that point I didn't care about anything else and was just tired of running.
I finished with a 1:58:38. I am happy that I got my sub-2, but was secretly hoping for a 1:55 or 1:56. Next time!
Oh, and for reference my last official half was in 2008 and I finished in 2:14:56. I was undertrained for it and didn't run regularly for the next couple of years after that.
So I really can't complain. It was a beautiful day, I got to meet other h&f girls, got my sub-2, a new pr, and another goal to work towards.
@mn06 - Yay!!! Glad you made your goal. Those up hills at the end were deceivingly tough. I did not feel well during the 12th mile. At all.
I had no idea you hadn't done a half since 2008!? That makes the Minneapolis cancellation doubly disappointing, but it also makes this sub-2:00 even more significant. Congrats!
breannie - You ladies look awesome in your costumes ! (I spied a pic on FB.) Nice job! I also had a rough time weaving through people at the start. I just didn't realize how full it was & how many people there were to deal with. Sorry you just missed your PR, but congrats on a strong race.
I don't think I have anything on my calendar for a long while. (Other than possibly a local 5K if I can work in a Turkey Trot or holiday race close by.) Anybody else have another 2014 or spring race already on their calendar?
I don't have any races on the calendar besides a New Years Day 5k that I have to do for work. I don't plan on anything in the spring since we are planning on moving and H is taking classes. Mayyyybe in the fall.

I'm guessing we're talking the Monster Dash, right?!
Love that race, but they too tend to struggle with organization! And of that crew I've only met thom but have to agree with the general consensus that she is so sweet!
Congrats on all your races -- hopefully the costumes entertained you, I love that race for that reason!
