Pic attached. My husband wants me to get curtains for this room. What color or pattern curtain would you put in the room in the back of the picture?
-I don't have a name of the paint color in the room. We will be keeping it this color. -We will have white wainscoting in the room. -color in the adjoining room is Restoration Hardware Silver Sage. We have dark brown tables and couches in the adjoining room.
Thoughts on color or pattern? What would you select?
What is the purpose of the room and how will be it decorated in terms of furniture?
It kind of looks like a dining room? Do you need a functional treatment that offers privacy or light control? Are you doing wainscoting or a chair rail?
When two rooms are visible from each other, I sometimes coordinate window treatments- a long panel is always nice if you're keeping the 2" blinds. If you are keeping a similar level of formality, a luxe fabric like silk dupioni or velvet would be pretty. If you want texture a damask could be appropriate; maybe even one with trim. If you want to dial back the formality, a cotton or linen would be a good choice. A large scale tone on tone stripe or plaid would be transitional. Or perhaps a geometric pattern like a trellis to inderoduce some color. I'm partial to florals and paisleys, but they can be harder to come by ready-made.
ETA: I like Country Curtains for ready mades. They have a great sheer linen out currently in a solid and a check. I really like their Jacobean florals as well.

Per my original post, yes we are doing wainscotting. The legal use of this room for purposes of your questions would be considered dining room.....but we won't have table in their for some time. Yes, we are keeping the blinds. There is a china cabinet in this room...although I don't see how that is helpful.
I'm not sure how to answer your other questions. I'm primarily looking for color suggestions.
Well, knowing what the room is for and what will be in there would give some sense of formality. The midtone taupe, as it reads on my monitor, is very neutral and gives you many options.
In a den, for instance, you might choose a deep chocolate to give it a masculine feel. If it was a MBR, a dusky plum would be pretty. If it was a child's playroom, you might want a brighter color like rose or peacock blue.
Since you're doing a white wainscoting, you probably would want to avoid the cream color you have in the adjacent space.
I had these curtains in mist at my old house. The blue/green is a perfect match for silver sage (so it will tie into the other room) and also had stripes of yellow and brown that will go nicely with the paint in the mystery room.
