It's my good friend from work's birthday. She is a "quality" type of person (though not smug or asshole-ish about it AT ALL). She buys the good stuff when it comes to everything (she can afford it, makes killer $$$). She likes whiskey so I want to buy her a bottle but I know nothing about whiskey. My budget is $40-$50 max. I checked my local BevMo and whoa, whiskey is expensive! Any quality recommendations within my budget? There are so many to choose from, I don't know where to start. Thanks!
I have no idea what BevMo is, but they aren't unique brands.
My bad. BevMo is a national (I think) liquor chain. It's like the Target of liquor stores. They sell all things wine, spirits, etc. I'll check for your recs. Thanks again.

DH drinks bourbon or Kentucky whiskey (Woodford would make his day). My dad likes blended Canadian (Crown Royal). DH also drinks whisky (single malt) when he can get it (Glenfiddich,Glenfarcas, Glemmorangie).

"Whiskey" is all I know, lol. The different types are a complete mystery to me. She is so sweet and generous when it's one of our birthdays, I just want to get her an affordable bottle of something that is considered to be the good stuff to show I appreciate her.
H says Woodford is "heads above the rest" and I believe it's within your price point. He also likes Bouilett and 1792 or something or another.
If you're talking about Bulleit, that's a bourbon.
Yep, that's it. I looked at labels, and he likes the Rye Whiskey. It says nothing about bourbon on the label. But I don't touch the stuff, so I admit I know nothing.
At that price point, I really like Bushmills Black Bush. Bulleit is good too, if you're going with a bourbon.
Thanks. There seems to be some cross-over appeal with bourbon and whiskey. I'll have to Google. I wonder if it's something like bourbon is American and whiskey is Irish but they're essentially the same or something like that...

Bourbon is a type of whiskey. It must be made in the US and from at least 51% and no more than 79% corn. There are no aging requirements for bourbon.
But if someone says they like whiskey, I would not buy them a bourbon.

Thanks. I just did a quick Google search and one site basically said all bourbon is whiskey but not all whiskey is bourbon. I know my friend likes whiskey. Bourbon never came up so I'll definitely stick with a whiskey.
New question: Since the bourbons and whiskeys seem to be interchangeable, do the bourbons say "bourbon" or "whiskey" or "bourbon whiskey" on the labels? Otherwise, I am going to piss off the person in the store something fierce totally by accident with all of my verifying questions.
