Tonight was a disaster. We tried to make meatloaf, DH really wanted it. It overflowed into the oven and wasn't cooked all the way through. DS had a blowout. Then Dh and I started arguing about meatloaf. Our house is full of smoke and my eyes are burning.
I think wine and an early bedtime are in my future.
Going to a movie alone sounds amazing. I really liked the movie - hope you do too!
It's my new thing to recommend to people. Junk food and no kids and it's a great solo outing because once the lights go down, who cares if you're with someone or not. Plus H and I can't agree on movies so this way we don't waste a babysitter on something only one of us wants to see!
This is my go-to activity when I get alone time outside the house. I love seeing movies alone!
So visit with friend's the week old went well. He was a very alert and active newborn. He kept rooting around and I asked non judgmentally about a pacifier. Friend said no pacifier because she still couldn't wean her six YEAR old off hers. Omg... I tried saying "well I am sure it is fine as long as she has baby teeth." No dice, already had lost teeth. Strengthens my resolve to crib wean dd in a few months.
I sucked a paci until I was five. I did require lots of orthodontia. I'm not sure whether the two are related.
We bought a car! A Nissan Rouge in the most beautiful blue. Thank God that's over... What a process.
DS was with us all 5 hours (including a nap on me during negotiations) and he was amazing. He walked around, explored, made friends. I'm so thankful. I had no idea we'd be there that long, it could have gone bad.

I have a jagged fingernail that I keep catching on my clothes and random crap. But I never have nail clippers around when it happens. It's really ticking me off. I tried biting it off but just made it worse.
I picked up a friend from the airport today and she was so hilariously drugged (anxiety meds for flying) and tired after flying from 11pm-10am and being up all day yesterday. She kept asking the same questions over and over and eventually fell asleep in the car collapsed forward hanging from the seat belt. I actually checked to make sure she was alive then I laughed a lot in my head.
Busy day, I'm exhausted. Got up, grocery shopped, went to the pharmacy, made brown butter rice Krispy treats with C, lunch, nap, took C TOT-ing at the pedi and to Target so H could have an afternoon to himself after solo parenting all week, church, and now I'm making chicken Marsala.
C insisted on wearing sunglasses with his octopus costume which made it even funnier.
I’m scared of the end of daylight savings time. My daughter already has a tough time making it to the earliest bedtime we can manage after work/daycare, and the stuff I’ve read tells me I need to begin keeping her up a little later to help her adjust to the time change.

We were at a birthday party for our godson this afternoon, and didn't get home until 7:30 (A goes to bed between 6:45 and 7:00). She stayed awake in the car the entire 25 minute ride, and fell asleep within 5 minutes of being put down. I was a little concerned, but we'll have to see how she does tonight. Hopefully, she does okay, she napped normally, so hopefully she's okay.
We are attempting to cold turkey the wubbanub tonight. So far she has been in bed for 20 minutes and hasn't said anything. FX we get some sleep tonight and that she doesn't wake up screaming for it at 1 am.
DS was great this morning while we were having the laundry closet doors installed-and after his nap he was a giant PITA. He knew he was being a little shit too and thought it was hilarious, which drove me even more crazy.
I'm debating going and taking a bath and reading a book. The problem is I have my carton of B&J's NY Super Fudge Chunk waiting for me and I'm afraid the entire carton will make me sick, but scooping some out will inevitably be not enough.
Two weeks ago I noticed that two prongs on my engagement ring looked damaged. Took the ring to the jeweler, had the prongs replaced. Picked the ring up last week and asked if they would check my wedding band as well (was my grandmother's from 1950)...4 prongs missing! Currently at the jewelers to be fixed. Well, today my ring caught on the inside of my hooded sweatshirt and a piece totally ripped off! I am so annoyed.
It's 8:30 and I might go to bed within the half hour. Last night I was in bed and asleep before 8:45. What the hell?
H had a grease fire in the kitchen tonight. I was holding M in the living room and saw the reflection of the fire in the trash can. Eek! Luckily H tends to stay calm in situations like this. He calmly put a lid over the flame to extinguish it. Much more convenient than dealing with the fire extinguisher mess!

We got pics taken of L today. I had a living social deal for Picture People. Love them!! He was so good during the photos. He didn't cry at all, just kept smiling and cooing. Everyone was complementing his eyes. I felt so proud. I worked hard on making him!
rbp, now that it has cooked through, it's good. My eyes are just burning from the self cleaning oven.
gravytrain225, that is funny. It seems like there is a lot to go wrong with meatloaf! Next time I'll use a lower fat ground beef, it's so greasy.
I also had a meatloaf fail this week. What are the odds?
I had taken ground turkey out of the freezer to thaw in the fridge Sunday night. I planned to leave work a few minutes early, go home, make the meatloaf and get it ready to go in the oven. Then I was going to run over to daycare and pick up DD. Well, I ran late at work, grabbed DD on the way (AND missed the text that H was available to pick her up)...and when I got home, the meat was still mostly frozen! DD had chicken nuggets, string cheese and some peas for dinner, since it wasn't fully cooked until after she was in bed. But damn it turned out good. And I am not the biggest meatloaf fan.
