Anyone do anything fun? Check anything off the baby to do list?
We picked out a few paint swatches to try for the nursery and I've started giving stuff away to make room for baby stuff. I helped my mom clean the last few items out of my grandma's house (she passed away almost two years ago and they're getting the house ready to sell) and I took an adorable yellow vintage suitcase that I think we're going to use in newborn pics and then cut in half and hang as a piece of art on his wall (aviation/travel theme). It would have been tossed otherwise, so I'm excited to repurpose it. I also took the cabinet from their house that held all the kids' books and photo albums. I am going to repaint it and use it to store books in the baby's room. Between those things and the knitted blankets from my other grandma and my H's grandpa's flight helmet in his nursery, it makes me feel so happy that he'll have special things from his great-grandparents he never got to meet.

Oh that's so awesome! I love the idea of the suitcase!!
We worked in cleaning out a lot of junk from the nursery (currently the catch all room), and the desk, which is gong to DD. I also ordered DD's new bedding for when we switch the rooms/furniture.
We went to boo at the zoo today, and it was a blast! Yesterday we carved pumpkins.
I cleaned some stuff in my house and then made more of a mess. Now I'm eating cookies getting ready for the World Series. I'm glad baseball is done this week--I need my evenings back.

We did our registry! But I'm annoyed with Target's system. There were a few things we scanned that weren't on there (and H was looking after every scan to make sure it said it was added). I had to add them on the website, but there is a certain Boppy cover that WILL NOT add! It's annoying! A different one (a "test" one I also wouldn't mind) added twice and said I wanted 6 each of them... lol. The Bumbo we scanned wasn't on there until after I added the color we actually wanted. Oh well, we have a good amount of stuff on there so that's good. I think we might need to do a BRU registry (or maybe Amazon.. but I don't know how many people would order from there) because I can't find a PnP that we want. We wanted one that has a removable rocking seat on top because then we wouldn't have to buy a PnP and also a rocking seat plus also maybe a swing. We found one a BRU but they don't seem to have one at Target at all, even online!

Nothing baby related but it was a productive weekend. We picked out carpet and paint for our family room, bought new doors to install in there (we are in the process of updating all the doors in the house to 6 panel doors instead of the ugly 1960s ones that we had- this is the last room!). Today my H took up part of the tile in the family room that is being removed and carpeted over.
The weather was great both days and we took bike rides. Yesterday we went out to lunch. Last night we watched Halloween and tonight we are getting ready to watch Halloween II.

We have been working on our fireplace this weekend.. still in progress, we will finish it up next weekend. Next thing after that, I want to do a little bit of renovating to the extra bathroom
I was so happy to have some time to myself after spending the last two out of town. Saw Dirty Dancing on stage, went to a Halloween party, cleaned and got lots of sleep. Unfortunately my head has ached on and off all weekend

We went away last night for our anniversary, had a great dinner and met our next door neighbors for drinks before that (their anniversary is 2 days after ours and they were in Portland too). We were in bed by 10, big change from our usual weekends away!
Today I've mostly been a slug and I'm fine with that.

Overall a good weekend.
Stayed home on Friday because I was having contractions. They obviously went nowhere. But I did get several things organized at home and get my car washed so that was nice.
Saturday lots of errands and a birthday party. Went to bed early last night woke up at 3:30 with more cramps and contractions. Fell back asleep at around 5:30 and H and kiddo let me sleep in until 9. Then a fairly lazy day today, only leaving to get L her flu shot.
We had a good weekend. Saturday I did a lot of cleaning/organizing and my daughter and husband spent most of the day together (he's been working crazy hours lately and they haven't been able to see each other much). Today we had a lazy day doing not much more than some baking, went to lunch and had a long walk tonight in an attempt to get this baby out of me. Overall, it was a very nice two days!
We had an excellent weekend, I'm so sad it can't be slightly longer, lol
On Saturday I worked on the baby quilt a little more, did quite a bit of rearranging in the kitchen to make room in the cabinets for baby bottles and items, then we went to a surprise birthday party later in the evening. We stayed there for a few hours until I had to eat something (unfortunately because of the GD I couldn't eat the cupcakes, or pizza they had at the party ), then H and I went out to eat at a new restaurant in our area
Today, finished up another block of the baby quilt, had breakfast with my parents, then went and got two pictures for the baby room framed (or at least ordered) at Michael's with the 50%+30% off coupon I had.
I am going into work later than usual tomorrow too, so I'm pretty excited about that - Yay for not having to wake up at 5am!
Inspired by @brie I put together the Hemnes 6 drawer dresser on my own. It took me 3-4 hours. Quite pleased with myself. Still have another bedside table to put together but should be pretty easy in comparison.
And I washed baby clothes. Also picked up a small pack of NB disposable diapers. We're using mostly cloth but I like to use disposables overnight for convenience.
A midwife dropped off our home birth kit on Sunday.
Feeling somewhat ready for this baby. 37 weeks tomorrow!
It was a great weekend, but I am super exhausted. We went down to my hometown (3.5 hour drive) for my family shower, and also did a bunch of meetings for our wedding next September.
The shower was great, and my Mom is also sending squares of fabric to a bunch of people to decorate and then be assembled into a quilt. It's something she and her group of friends have done for each other since they were having babies, so it's really special to me and I'm super excited.
Between the driving and sleeping on a crappy mattress, though, I am feeling a little beat up this morning. I have to work 4 nights in a row this week (12 hour shifts), which is going to be rough...the past couple of months I've pretty much limited myself to two, three maximum. Only one month until maternity leave, though!
I spent some time with my mom on Friday while DH was at work and then we watched the World Series game.
Saturday morning DH and I slept in and then went for a walk. I went to my cousins' soccer games in the afternoon and got to see them, my aunt, older cousins, and my mom. Watched the World Series with DH in the evening.
Sunday I helped DH install our pellet stove, went to church, went for a nice walk, worked on baby stuff for a little while, and relaxed a little in prep for today's long day at work. Oh, and we watched the World Series again.
I had my first shower! I got a lot of onesies and sleepers because my family doesn't have a Target or BRU close by them. It works though because I haven't bought any clothes, so I definitely needed what I got.
While I was out of town, H and FIL painted the doors in the nursery and the dresser. The bedding came while I was gone, so I need to wash that and then it will start looking like a bedroom.
Weekend was good! Saturday we relaxed, and also cleaned out my car and installed the car seat. Worked a little bit on packing the hospital bag too. Yesterday H & I went out for lunch and a movie and just spent the day together.
I was having a lot of BH contractions while walking around this weekend- and am exhausted today.
We did check some things off the baby list. Installed the car seat, got the art up in the nursery, cleaned some things, interviewed a nanny. We also got in a few fun things like going to a movie and going out to lunch with our friends. It was a good weekend. I'm not ready to go back to work

Busy baby weekend here!
Saturday afternoon was my last shower, then DH and I spent after dinner going through everything and organizing a return pile and making a "still need" list. Sunday after church we spent about 3 hours returning stuff at BRU and Target (over $500 worth of returns!) and getting the last "needs" before baby. We still have $200+ for target that I'm sure we'll be able to spend once baby shows up!
Then last night we did the laundry for the nursery (changing covers, crib sheets, blankets, clothes). We'll set everything up tonight and take pictures!
The only thing left is a table for next to the rocking chair - which we are going to get from my parents house next time we go over.
Friday - Halloween WoD at my CrossFit box, which involved everyone carrying a pumpkin around for the entire workout. Then we went to the hospital to entertain my BFF's family for a bit while she labored. Then her H sent everyone home, so we got dinner then went to bed.
Saturday - Got up for breakfast at our diner, which as closed due to power outage,so we went to the other town nearby where we had to get race packets for Sunday anyway. We had breakfast, got packets, then H got a haircut. We killed an hour then went to the hospital to see the aforementioned newborn, who was finally born at 8:15 AM on Saturday after 36h of labor. Dinner with friends for a birthday on Saturday night, worst service ever btw. EVER.
Sunday - H had a race, so we were up at 6, out the door by 6:30, raced at 7:30 and 9am, then breakfast then home for a few hours where I cleaned then napped. We went to the apple cider mill for a social event with the CrossFit box for a few hours then home and slept.

I am so incredibly exhausted and sore today. The weather was beautiful this weekend so I was able to do about 5 hours worth of raking/blowing/burning of leaves on Saturday. Every year I curse myself for agreeing to 1.5 acres with leafy trees. Yesterday I cleared the crafting area I will move my craft room (to be the nursery) into. I listed a few things on my local swap site and made $30. Hopefully some of the other things sell. Otherwise they are going to Goodwill!

Ugh, more home renovation stuff. We thought we had all the difficult DIY parts that needed doing done Saturday, but realized this morning that something we thought we could put off, we really needed to do now rather than later. This is the "below" section of skirt board for our new hardwood stairs where they are open to the living room. I think we spent at least 13 hours working on it together on Sunday. And it's not even done. We need to cut the ends just so (now that I've spoken to the floor guy and know what just so is) and we (really DH) needs to put on another coat (or ideally two) of polyurethane. And then mount it for real.
I'm so exhausted. Baby is due in 2 and a half weeks. We need this remodel done. I'm definitely starting to freak out about it.
Tonight or tomorrow night we can hopefully also get the nursery painted, in addition to finishing this damn skirt board. (Couldn't do that over the weekend because we had workers in there removing popcorn and painting the ceiling--no more popcorn upstairs, yay!)
This whole home renovation thing was a lot more fun when I was less pregnant (physically capable of doing more myself instead of mostly just holding stuff for DH), and thought there was no danger of the baby being born before it was done. (Although at this point--almost 38 weeks--if over-exertion caused me to go into labor, I really wouldn't be unhappy about it.)
On the bright side, when I went out for paint on Friday night, and the local paint shop was all out of the recycled white paint I wanted for the ceiling, they gave me an almost full 5-gallon container of premium white paint. Not sure the backstory on having an almost full 5-gallon pale was, but it was apparently supposed to be given away to a good home, and they seemed to think I was just the perfect choice. One of the guys threatened to follow me home to help me unload it until I promised that I had someone at home to unload for me. (Not that my midwife has given me any lifting restrictions...) Definitely got the impression their excessive chivalry was on account of being so pregnant. So I guess being 9 months pregnant isn't all bad.
On Saturday I worked on the baby quilt a little more,
Progress pics to share with the class?
Sorry it's taken me so long to post these! I was having trouble getting them from my phone to here because my app isn't totally working right...Anyway, here are three of the blocks I have finished and then the last one I was just laying out the applique shapes for the 4th block I was going to do. I'm hoping I'll get most of the applique done by this upcoming weekend and then be able to sew everything together the following week! Cutting it a little close, but that's maybe okay, ha ha
