We are noticing some woodpecker behavior lately, but they seem interested in ONLY the chipboard under the roof. So, we're concerned that there might be an issue with the roof/insects now. Ugh.
Tomorrow is our last day of Amazon Prime and I'm wondering how many videos I can fit in before then. (LOL)
I cleaned like a madwoman yesterday and you *cannot* tell at all. I guess I focused by cleaning on the wrong areas (oven, cabinets, etc) - I should have picked something more visible - like say ... grout.

I don't know what to do with myself today. I've been working like a mad women to finish my kitchen cabinets. Now that's done. My house is clean, since it was appraised on Friday. One kiddo is in school, the other is taking an unheard of nap. I've been sitting and playing on the internet, drinking my coffee. I forgot how enjoyable it is to do nothing.
I've been putting texturizing powder in my hair before putting it in a pony tail and then back-combing the pony tail a bit once it's up. My hair fine hair looks great. I've received 3 compliments today alone.
I want all the house things done right this second. The dryer needs to be vented "properly" I want a run of cabinets on a blank wall in our kitchen, our step trim finished and a backsplash. Like yesterday! I'm in a jealous of everyone else's stuff phase and it's not helping. H of course cares about none of it at the moment. Geez.
I found a console table that I'm thinking we could use to put the cable box and DH's xbox on. Of course it's $3000+. WHY?!? Blerg.
Can anybody find something like this for much, much cheaper?
I would like somehting mirrored but I think the mercury glass effect would allow us to use our existing coffee table which is a dark, hammered wood table.

West Elm has a parsons mirrors glass console for around $450 but doesn't have the detail of that one
mrs.jacinthe, we had that issue as well years ago. There wasn't an insect problem, they were just mean birds who pecked a ton of holes through the wood. This led to all new siding, gutters, and all the fascia board wrapped.
I'm debating just getting rid of the curtains in DR completely. I don't feel like they add anything to the room and I'm tired of vacuuming dog hair off the inside of them every week.
My arms are covered in some sort of allergic reaction rash. We did yard work 10 days ago and I got pricked by a few different viney things and a rose bush. 2 days later, I started getting red marks and a few blisters. It's progressively gotten worse. Went to an urgent care on Saturday and got steroid and antibiotic creams, but they aren't helping. I was told to come back by Tuesday if I didn't see improvement. I think it might have actually gotten worse... I'm contemplating going now. I really don't want oral steroids, or worse - a steroid shot (the nurse practitioner's suggestion on Saturday) but I can't keep going like this.
I also need to decide if I want to get allergy testing. I am 100% sure it's not poision ivy - it started from the prick spots and it took days longer than poison ivy takes to show up on me. It's something else... I just don't know which plant it is. I need to either make DH handle all yardwork, which means it'll never get done, or find out which plant it is so I can force him into dealing with it.
AmyRI get the steroid shot! I really want steroid shots. I've been dealing with bad sciatic pain/god knows what which is affecting my back, hips and legs for over a week now. I'm on prescription strength aleve and a muscle relaxer. As of last night, my left hip decided it wanted to pretend to feel like it was on fire for some reason. AHHH! I start PT on Thursday. I just want to be able to sleep through the night, and to be able to stand/walk for more than 2 minutes. I feel bad for my husband because I've been pretty much house bound for 10 days AND he's had to do all the cleaning/laundry and most of the cooking.
However, I think we have a really good idea for our kitchen/mudroom/half bath expansion. I always wanted to push the mudroom out so it is level with the outer wall of the kitchen, then create a half bath and new back entrance there. My husband has also suggested building UP, which will allow us to expand our master closet AND put a substantial closet in what is now my office, instead of the tiny, fake, 16 inch deep closet we have now. Probably will need an architect to plan it all out, though.

That sounds like a lot of work! For some reason I thought you guys weren't planning on staying in this house that long. have you ever posted a floorplan? I have a hard time picturing your layout from the pics you've posted. I hope you'll post something if you do have an architect look at it! I love seeing floorplans.
Nah, a major kitchen overhaul (and adding a powder room) has always been the plan. This is hopefully at least a 10 year house, but we'll see how it goes. We don't have kids yet, but hope to soon. My parents' first house was about this size (1400 sq ft, 3 bedrooms) and once my brother was born, it felt tight. OTOH, we have 2 sets of neighbors down the street with slightly less sq footage, and one family has 3 kids and one is about to have 3 kids. I feel like having a dedicated guest room as my parents get older and having a separate family room for pre-teens/teens might be desirable in the future, but we'll have to see how we feel. We're in a great school district and love the area.
This is a badly drawn floor plan of the second floor. To the right of that back bedroom is where the upper addition would go. Currently there's a mudroom below it, and the kitchen is below the bedroom. Ideally we wouldn't have to do any additional foundation work, but we'd have to talk to someone. The kitchen and back bedroom are already an addition, but were probably added around 1940? They're on a crawl space instead of the basement.
I'm at home watching Love It or List It. I'm so sick of watching episodes with entitled 'adult' children who whine that mom/dad's place isn't what they want it to be. If my grown child moved back in with me and had the nerve to tell me that they don't like my house then they can go find their own friggin place. What the hell.

Please tell me more about this magical thing you call "texturizing powder". I have fine hair too and anything I put in it just weighs it down.

LOL. It's just a powder that you texturizers your hair. There are about 325646 different brands. I have one by Rockstar and another by Big Sexy Hair. They both work about the same. I think they all do. If i leave my hair down I just pour some in my hands and do the roots. It's a bit sticky and leaves my hair kind of tangle-y otherwise. If I put it up I shake some in my hands and put it all over. It adds awesome lift/volume and so much thicker and gives that "dirty" look everyone wants.

I took Baby W to his well child this morning (he is 80% for height and 74% for weight) and had lunch with an old coworker then my appointment this afternoon. I thought "I could be a SAHM" until Baby W had a lunchtime meltdown, slapping his styrofoam cup, puncturing the side with a straw and filling my plate I hadn't finished eating off of with water.

It's awesome.
I've tried some texturizing sprays and they all did nothing for me or made my hair flatter than usual. I will have to look for the powdered kind. Since I have found nothing that works, I don't look too hard hence not knowing there were 325646 different brands out there these days

Woodpeckers peck primarily for 3 reasons:
1. Establish territory
2. Attract mate
3. Dislodge & eat bugs in the wood.
Do you think they'd be focused so hard on the chipboard if there weren't bugs? We figured that for mating or territory establishment, they'd be pecking everywhere, not just the roof.

I don't know.
The territory establishment and mate seeking pecking is based on SOUND. So if that material makes a really awesome sound (in a woodpecker's mind) then it's not necessarily bug infested. But I don't know.
