Just got the call to schedule my next round interview for the job I had the phone interview for last week! This week it will be via Skype. I am not a fan of Skype but oh well. Wednesday morning. Yay! Phone call was with HR (I assume just a screening interview) this one is actually with the committee.

travelbug yeah I've had a few and I always feel so awkward...like I think my problem is that I don't look in the right spot because I want to look at the computer screen but then I'm not looking at the camera. I better practice more, one of these days I'll get it right.

HoneySpider that's one of my problems too. I feel my eyes are all over the place. Another thing I don't like is having to worry about the connection failing, cutting out or being loud enough. My Skype recently needed to be updated I don't know if everyone's did, but if you haven't updated in a while Id check and login to be safe. It took me like half hour to get mine situated last week!

Well Skype didn't work right, which isn't surprising since IME it doesn't work more often than it does. We were connected fine but then they were having trouble hearing me so they said they would call me and just leave the video on...but then my Skype closed out so that didn't work. Anyway, we ended up talking on the phone which when you're on speaker with a group is also hard

I'm not really sure how it went. I felt there were things they should have asked about but didn't and then a few very specific questions that didn't seem that important. So who knows. I should know next week if I get through to the final round but I can really see this going either way right now.

Thanks guys...if I can get to the final round I feel much better about my chances because I definitely interview better in-person than on the phone (as I'm sure most people do)

The more I learned about this position over the last week or so the more I realized how good a fit it would be for me - it would be a nice step up from where I had been and much more on target with the level I should be at/would help me advance to where I want to be. I'm also really impressed with the quality of the staff and the accomplishments of the dept. So now I feel I'm going to be extra disappointed if I don't get it but that's life.
