No surgery tonight , waiting for brain swelling to go down and bleeding to stop on its own. Still in induced coma. Hopefully we'll know more tomorrow morning. Thanks for thinking about us.
Thinking of you. My SIL's family went through a similar accident her dad. It was a slow recovery but he made a full one. Thoughts and prayers for your FIL.
My father in law was in a biking (not motorcycle) accident today. We still don't know all the details. He and MIL are 600 miles away and were out of town on a day biking trip. He was wearing a helmet and fell while biking (we don't know the details of what happened really) Anyways he has skull fractures and brain bleeds. He is in a drug induced coma and being flown to University of Iowa to see the Neurosurgeon. He is 60 years old and was in great health prior to this.
His mom texted us at 6:00 with very little details saying her phone had 3% battery and she has no charger, that FIL had been in a accident for all the siblings to meet her at the University of Iowa All DH's siblings all live about 3 hours from there and are on their way. We just bought DH a plane ticket for tomorrow morning. We have been frantically calling the hospital for any information.
It's so hard not knowing any information and being so far away. hermione I know you have just been through something similar.
Thanks, any thoughts and prayers would be appreciated.
I know there are charging stations throughout the hospital at UIHC, hopefully she can stumble upon one when she gets there. I have spent a lot of time around that hospital, your FIL is going to an excellent place to get care. I do know someone who had similar injuries from a bike accident and spent awhile in an induced coma . It's been a long road but he is recovering. Hugs.
