That's to pretty much everything in the article. Why do people care? Nothing mentioned in that article is out of the realm of typical or normal. Honestly, I would expect people tied to the charity to have the biggest issue with this. With that said, speaking as someone who works for a company that is tied to a non-profit, I will say two things. 1) OF COURSE it benefits a company to be tied to a charity. Lets not be naive here. HOWEVER, that should not take away from the good that is begin done/money that is being donated. 2) It's not easy being a non-profit, and most would jump at an opportunity like this.
Some people feel about LLL like I do about CFA. I get it. But holy predictable, batman.
Exactly. I get why some people don't like the company, but the comments about how they're using this as a re-branding, and how they're just trying to align with an image they would like to reflect? Well, yeah, no shit Captain Obvious. That's what companies do. There's going to be a benefit to both sides here. LLL is doing some reputation management, and the center is getting $750,000 to further their reach and fund their cause. This is not earth shattering. This is typical. By all means, continue to not shop there, but to act like this is more outrageous fuckery, is laughable to me.
I strongly dislike LLL in account of Chip's douchebaggery, and haven't made up my mind about them in the post-chip era. But this doesn't strike me as objectionable. If they want to give some cash to HHDL, who cares? I'm sure they aren't the first and it's not like HHDL is going to be doing speaking engagements dressed in LLL yoga pants.
Actually, them giving money to someone who is about as far as one could possibly get from Ayn Rand probably pisses Chip off royally. So that's good in my book.
