Hey everyone!
I had my first OB appt today and according to LMP should be 6 weeks today. She did an ultrasound and found the gestational sac but there was nothing inside. She didn't seem too concerned and said it was probably just too early but also wasn't super reassuring either. I have a tipped uterus which I read can complicate early ultrasounds, but of course I am a nervous wreck. Did anyone else have something similar happen? I wasn't charting but was using OPK's and am fairly certain about the dates since I was out of town for lots of the fertile week.
She took betas and I will go back for another draw on Friday along with another ultrasound next week. Trying to stay positive but its tough since I know this will obviously go one of two ways. Thanks for any advice
UPDATE: I went for a for a followup ultrasound today and feel so blessed and happy to report there was our little baby in there! Great heart rate and everything looks healthy and on track for 7 weeks! I hugged the ultrasound tech lol. This past week was the longest of my life and I wish they wouldn't have done the early u/s because it can cause so much unnecessary stress. This will be the best Thanksgiving ever Happy to officially be jumping in here now!
Did they not do a transvaginal ultrasound? It's really hard to see anything on the belly u/s until later. My first belly u/s this time was at 8 weeks and the baby was really fuzzy at that point.
I did unfortunately have this happen to me, there was an empty sac found at 10w. It was a blighted ovum and I miscarried, but obviously that was much later and a baby would have been very obvious. I do hope it was just too early for you though!
I had an empty sac at 5 weeks 6 days. Week and a half later, there was a baby bean in there with a HB. Good luck! Hope your betas come back showing solid growth.

No experience with an empty sac but wanted to send prayers, positive thoughts, and hugs for you and your baby! Six weeks is still really early...praying your betas go well and your next u/s shows a perfectly healthy little baby with the most precious sounding heartbeat!
When do they want you to go back? Thinking of you! Please keep us posted on your blood results.
My doc sent me for an ultrasound at what should have been 6 weeks based on LMP. I knew I ovulated later and was closer to 4.5 weeks. The tech saw an empty sac. I went back a week later and everything was great. You could have just ovulated late and not be as far along as you think
Yes, this happened to me with this pg and I also had low betas. I was prepared for a m/c, but went back a week later and saw a heartbeat. They dated me at about 9 days earlier than I thought I was based on my lmp. I'm now 40w (today!).

Thanks! It was a trans vag one. I was actually surprised she did one so early and would have rather waited until my 8 week appt. Well another week and Ill have a better idea. The waiting is the worst!
I did have this happen, but mine ended up being a blighted ovum. I hope that you have different results, as 6 weeks is definitely still early! Good luck!
I had this happen, but it didn't end well for us. I went back at 7 weeks and it was a m/c. I'll be thinking good thoughts for you though! It sounds like there is a positive outcome more often than a negative
6 weeks is still really early to see much of anything, which is why they don't often see patients that early. So don't fret (easier said than done I know!). The betas will give you a bit more information, and hopefully in a few weeks you'll see a fuzzy smudge with a heartbeat!
My Dr said that a 6 weeks it's normal to only see a sac and nothing else mainly since a lot of people are "off" in their calculations. I know that we didn't see a heartbeat at 6 weeks but did at 7 weeks. Good Luck, and yes waiting is the worse but keep positive thoughts.
((Hugs)) I know it's stressful news to hear, but try and be positive h too your next ultrasound. It's early so it may have just been hard to see.
I had this with my second pregnancy and everything turned it out to be ok at the 8 week ultrasound. (Full disclosure: I did end up having a m/c with that pregnancy but it wasn't until after the first tri, 15weeks)
At 6w I had an US and it was just the yolk sac. I came back the next week and got to hear the heartbeat. My RE said it was normal to only see the yolk sac with as early as I was.

I've heard a lot of situations where it just isn't visible this early. When they had me come in during my 6th week I was prepared to see nothing for that reason. I did see the heartbeat, but who knows if it had been even a day sooner if I would have? Things were a lot more distinct a week later when I went back,, wishing and hoping this will be the case for you!
kellsbelles I was thinking of you this morning, when is your next US?
Thank you. I just updated now. So happy to report that our little baby was in there looking on track and healthy. I feel so blessed Thanks for thinking of me!
