DSs bum is red. I've tried purple desitin, that didn't work so I switched to anti-fungal with aquaphor on top. Nope. Then anti-fungal with desitin. Still red. It doesn't have the raised up red bumps so it didn't look like yeast to me but I did the anti-fungal anyway and it still hasn't helped.
Any tips? We are doing an oatmeal bath tonight, I'm hoping that will help. Should I just put some regular vanicream lotion and coat it with aquaphor in case it's just dry/irritated skin?
Dammit. Coconut oil. I haven't tried that and I know someone is going to suggest it.
Lots of naked time and, yes, try coconut oil. When DS gets it really bad, I usually use a prescription cream for yeast rash which clears it up in a day or two. (I can't remember the name of what we use off the top of my head.)

Desitin doesn't work for ds. I use triple paste and it is like a miracle. So triple paste only during the day with frequent diaper changes. At night triple paste with aquaphor on top. I also blow dry his butt when I can.

Dr. Smith's Diaper Ointment - it's a tub, not a tube. You can get it at Walgreen's and Target that I know of. We try the butt paste first since it's a little cheaper but this stuff works better.
I got some triple paste, he had a nice soak in an oatmeal bath then coconut oil, then triplepaste. That stuff is like marshmallow fluff. He doesn't wake up at night but I'm going to change him when I go to bed at 11 and reapply the triple paste. There's not much opportunity for naked time until tomorrow evening. I'll try to pick him up from daycare early.

Naked time and cornstarch work wonders. Also we stopped using baby wipes when there is a rash, and alternated with water on a soft cloth/viva paper towels.
When C's diaper rash flared up we did baking soda baths. Just run a regular bath and put a couple scoops of baking soda in. Then we let her sit and play a little longer (which she never minded). We followed with a thorough drying an loads of diaper cream (we always used Burt's Bees).
Naked time and just a bit of plain old cornstarch in his diaper. This is what always worked for us.
Ditto. My daughter got diaper rashes when she was teething. My grandma suggested the corn starch and naked time after nothing else worked. It did the trick rather quickly.

Have your pedi call in a script for poop goop. True story. It's a compound the pharmacy mixes up that is mostly OTC stiff with one or two actual prescriptions. It saved is many times from nasty antibiotic poop or teething rashes.
You can google for the recipes but I promise your pedi and pharmacy will know what you're taking about.
Just Desitin never works for us because it does a poor job of keeping moisture off her skin and just Aquaphor/AD Ointment never works, either, because it's just a moisture barrier but doesn't really treat the rash. So, I make my own diaper cream.
1 part (I do 4 oz) purple Desitin (to treat rash) 1/2 - 1 part Aquaphor (to provide moisture barrier, use less if the rash is bad, more if it's just moderate) 1 tube neosporin 1/2 tube of lotrimin if it looks yeasty
Mix in a lidded tub and apply liberally.
I also recommend naked time if you can and using baby powder to make sure the diaper area is nice and dry before applying cream. I'm pretty loose with the measurements above.
Well I kept him home today. The rash was bad and he was crying during his diaper change. Triple paste didn't work. I have some cornstarch and I'm washing some blankets to cover the couch. Once they are done, naked butt time!

If it has gotten that bad, I would call the pedi. They can prescribe a couple of different things for it. It's probably a yeast infection at this point and needs more help than just regular diaper cream. Naked time is still highly recommended.

We had diaper rash issues with DD. We tried everything. The only thing that worked (after asking our ped) was his recommendation to switch diaper brands. We had used Target brand with DS and never thought to change that but it was magic. No more diaper rash ever. Good luck.

Yeah I'm planning to call after I'm done feeding him breakfast. I hope theyes can call something in. I've never had a doctor that did that without an appt
