has anyone sold to Ouac? thoughts?

Any experience? I have quite a lot of nwt clothes that hasn't moved on my fb group and I can't return. Is it better to just garage sale it?

I think I'd give it a try? Sometimes I bring stuff to sell and they take the "junk" and leave the good stuff. A few times the took it all and sometimes they tell me my stuff is too warn (when it is clearly newer than stuff on the racks). Its hit or miss.

They're picky, but I took in all the stuff I wanted rid of. They bought about $65 worth of stuff and gave the rest back. It's kind of a PITA, but less so than selling by the piece. I just can not with that.

Someone told me they are really picky with brands and wont take target or WalMart but when I asked, the girl said they have no specific brands they are looking for.

I'm just wary because I think they are sister companies with Platos Closet and that place is a pita.

Do you have any independent stores that consign? I'd take NWT and nicer brand stuff there. The one I stalk cuts a monthly check instead of every time something sells (and gives a discount on other clothes if you elect to just receive store credit).

I've sold twice. The first time they took a ton, even stuff I didn't think they would take. The second type they didn't even take practically brand new Gymboree stuff even though the stuff on the racks was crap.

It's worth a shot if you have the time.

They totally take Target and Walmart and Joe Fresh. I wouldn't bother with high-end stuff, actually. They don't go too far above Gymboree.

It's so easy, I like doing it. But they only take them if they're less than two years old.  And gear has to be less than 5 years old.

I got $50 for my baby jogger which was more than what they were going for on CL and much easier.


The only thing I really don't like about them is their inconsistency.

Once I was there selling gear and the lady gave me back some accessories to a doorway jumper saying they couldn't take them b/c they were plush.  I pointed across the room to the same exact jumper WITH the accessories on it.  And she was all *shrug* that's our policy.  Whatever.  No skin off my teeth but it makes you seem crazy.

The last time I was there I brought a bunch of clothes in one of those giant zip loc bags.  The lady next to me brought in a bag of clothes and the salesperson that was helping her said they won't look at your clothes if they're in plastic bags.  They have to be in bins.  She looked at me, looked back at the lady and was all . . . so that lady is allowed to bring clothes in platics bags but I'm not?  AWKWARD!

I wonder if what they will/won't accept has to do with what's currently out on the racks and what has been moving. So, one week they may be bursting with Gymboree stuff and won't take any more and the next week some of it has sold so they'll start accepting it again.

I could be giving OUAC too much credit here.

Ok that's good to know. I'm actually in the middle of two OUAC stores, each about a 10 min drive so ill try one then take the rejects to the other lol

One is in a very fancy town so they might be more picky.

Planning on going today so will update.

I wish I could figure out their buy/sell plan.  They don't take good clothes, but the stuff out on the floor is awful and overpriced.  Mine is really hit or miss on both sides.  I did score a Lily Pulizter 2t coat for $8 last weekend, but otherwise mine is a lot of carter's and target stuff.

I have a small pile I may take to them tomorrow that's winter stuff that I don't feel like waiting for the next consignment sale that would be almost a year from now.

I've heard the same complaints from their sister stores, clothes mentor and platos closet.  I took some stuff to clothes mentor, one thing being a pair of brand new wedges and they passed.  I actually said to the girl, these wedges are in better shape than half the shoes you have out.  She claimed they were probably past the 2 year mark (they weren't).

I think it depends on the size of the clothes too. The OUAC by me is always busting at the seams of clothing from 0-18 months. But the 2t and above stuff is kinda crap (for boys) so I find that they tend to take nearly all the things I bring in that are larger.

It's hit or miss, but it's easy.

My OUAC has a ton of Carter's and Wal-Mart/Target stuff too. If I'm bored I'll go to one and sift through for some hidden gems - I can reliably find Gap stuff and occasionally some J&J and HA. But I'll leave with two or three things where other people are leaving with a cart full, lol.

Now I want to go there today and see what I can find in the next size up. It's a sickness. I've never been to a PC or CM since I've heard they are a cluster.

I think if you're talking baby clothes, it's kind of a wash between donating it and taking a tax deduction (not sure how that works in Canada), consigning, putting up an ebay or craigslist lot, doing a garage sale, etc.  Pros and cons to each.  The pro to a OUAC is that you can get rid of it when you choose to and get cash on the spot.  Yes, the amount you get may be a little disappointing, but it's immediately off your hands.  Just beware of the endowment effect, where people tend to think something is worth more merely because they own it.    

They're franchised so the variations people are reporting aren't surprising.  Hopefully you'll have a successful trip today @icedgems!

In Canada we don't get a deduction for donations so I always try and sell. Thanks!
