I guess my related UO is that I hate it when kids' hair is in their faces. It seems so irritating - I never let my hair flop all over my face, why would it be comfortable for a kid??
I feel like kids should be able to decide their hair length earlier than they usually are. We have a friend whose 4yo has very long, beautiful blonde hair and he is ALWAYS mistaken for a girl. He has very delicate features and they dress him unisex, and literally everyone assumes he's a girl. I think there's nothing at all wrong with that IF it's what the kid chooses. From what I can tell, he doesn't come out and say he wants to cut it, but his mom makes a big deal out of how beautiful it is and whatnot. So I can tell he doesn't like being mistaken for a girl, but I think he doesn't want to disappoint his mama. I guess my plan is to cut K's enough to keep it out of his eyes but to never make a big deal out of my personal preference. If one day he says he wants long hair, and I'm sure it's not just that he doesn't want to actually sit in a chair for a cut, then more power to him.
But he has some crazy curly hair so it would look pretty funny growing out, I think! But I won't tell him that.
I think this a great way to handle it. I'm the proof in the pudding.
My mom used to always tell me that she loved my long, blonde hair and that I could never cut it. Well, as soon as I was old enough to do so, I chopped it off and dyed it like a maroon color, lol. She didn't talk to me for TWO WHOLE WEEKS, LOL.

I never thought I'd want to let Nolan's hair grow long, but he has a tiny curl starting to grow behind his ear. I don't think I could ever bring myself to get rid of that, even it reaches Rapunzel status.
I think no matter what, you'll have a personal preference on hair length. I'm not a huge fan of a lot of the pixi styles or super long hair, but it doesn't matter what I think, it's what the person who has the haircut likes. Another thing, we all have so many different clothing preferences for ourselves and our kids. Some styles I'm naturally going to like more than others. There is nothing wrong with that though. I think the only thing that would make any of this bad is if you made negative comments about it, especially directed towards the person who has difference preferences than yours. I think it's great that we can all have different styles, we should be proud of whatever they are since they are our own.
It's hard not to take to comments like "I don't like long hair on little boys" personally considering there are less than 5 on this board with long hair, including my own sweet, long haired boy.
:/
Sorryyyy!!! It's not about anyone specifically, it's just in general. Like even if no boy on this board had long hair I would think it. Also I know everyone loves it which is why I put it in an UNpopular opinion thread. Also it's just my opinion. I'm sure there are many UO's that apply to me or D but whatever I do what I want and you do too and that's great!!! Really, don't let it bother you. Who cares what I think? Plus I Said I almost changed my mind based on this board's cuties! Layne rocks his hair!
Who knows, maybe I'm just subconsciously jealous of all the beautiful hair! Haha
Dude. We get to have opinions in life. I don't care for long hair on toddler boys, but I don't really like it on girls either. And, my kid certainly isn't going to have long hair because I don't want to deal with it. I'm lazy.
If you express an opinion gently and without singling out people by name, you should get to have your opinion. If you are jerky in your presentation of said opinion--all bets are off. Except, I increasingly see this not happening. And people getting applauded for jerky delivery. That pisses me off.
I think parents have gotten bizarrely invested in disney movies.
I hate dealing with Natalie's hair sometimes. All because of the bangs. When I first started cutting them I did it way too thick, so now I am attempting to thin them out. It's such a PITA to grow just part of them out. I'd like to grow them all out honestly, but she has a little bit of a unibrow and I'd like to try and cover it up. I feel awful that that's the reason.
My kids will never have bangs as long as I'm in charge of their hair because BANGS SUCK and I spend enough time on my own.

I love me some Ladybug but I think she's asked me like 5 times when I'm going to cut Colin's hair so the comment that she doesn't like long haired boys make me cringe just a tad. But LONG HAIR FOR LIFE!
Haha! I've only asked you twice I think! And it's more just curiosity because I don't see why people are sad to cut kids hair (boys and girls) I guess I'm just not attached to hair? I don't know. I also thought you said once that you were thinking of cutting it so I was wondering when but now I see you aren't planning on it for a while sorry, love you! And you know I love Colin!
lolaburns aren't you moving south at some point? I have a feeling you will run into quite a bit of canned chicken. I'm glad we could alert you to its existence before you were totally shocked!
I grew up in the South..... I'm not a Northeasterner. I've never had canned chicken. Or chicken salad. I don't know of any dish I have ever read that has utilized canned chicken.
I've also never had tuna fish from a can. :::kiss:::

Delaney has like natural bangs, or maybe it's the way I do her hair but I want them to grow out so I can just pull her hair in a ponytail and not have to separate the bangs (which are really just baby hairs haha)

Haha! I should have prefaced it with "I know she means no harm" and I know you don't. You are like the angel of niceness! I did discuss cutting it a bit back. My H wants to wait and really I do too. It was a "I'm bored" moment that passed quickly.

Nobody said she wasn't allowed to have her opinion. Does that mean I am not allowed to be bothered about it? Just because she "expressed it gently." Ok.
I think she was saying it because I felt the need to apologize for my opinion when really I don't have to but I don't like thinking people are mad at me so I did

Hands jfh a clip and D. Go for it! Someone, please :-) Some days I just show up at school and hand the magical preschool teachers a hair tie. This wasn't an issue when H's hair simply grew out and up for 3 years.
I've only heard little bits of the song that goes, "I'm all about the bass." And it's absolutely horrible. I know I'm not into much current pop music, but I don't see how that song could have ever become popular.

This is how I was with the twins I nannied. Their mom could never do their hair so I would French braid it or put it in twisties when I was there and she would leave it for a day. Haha

My husband farted, and then sang that song the other day.

Edie would prefer to just use her hand to hold her hair back. She does it for so long that I can't believe her arm doesn't fall off. Recently, she's been letting me put that little bit in a ponytail. Which is good.
I think it's because my MIL brushes her hair when she "styles" it. No brushes are needed, Granny. Just pull it back. The brushes hurt.

When people have an opinion on hair , clothes, etc. I always try to remember they aren't saying they don't like YOU or they don't like your kid or they don't like your child's hair even. They aren't even saying they don't think your kid with long hair isn't cute... They just aren't into long hair.
For instance, the thought of pink makes me cringe. Especially powder pink. If E ever wants a bedroom this color I might vomit and have an anxiety attack. It doesn't mean I don't think pink rooms or clothes aren't pretty.
I think that all women whose husband's work a regular job and then come and not help out and also don't help on weekends, should get in their car and go away for a weekend - or at least for a Saturday afternoon.
My husband DOES help and is a great dad and I STILL think he is going to be completley lost and fucked without me. I cant wait.
looks like william is shaping up to be another baldie so I won't have this decision to make for probably about five years lol
I keep thinking I should take matilda to the hairdresser but she doesnt' have a ton of hair so it feels wrong to cut it.. I only cut her bangs because she couldn't see and I began to fear daycare (and now jfh I guess ) judging me

Sure, you can have your opinion. But, own it. Don't make other people feel bad for their opinions. You like his hair long. That is fine. But, she didn't say, "I can't believe Chels won't cut L's hair." She said she didn't like long hair on boys. We aren't always going to agree with each other. That would be boring and fake.

I didn't like it at first, but I do now.
I also like Maroon 5's new Animal song, or whatever it's called. I would never have realized it's about stalking if I hadn't heard something about it on the radio. I can't help it. I still like the melody and sing along.

This was Edie two years ago today. I resisted the urge and once we got past this stage her hair turned long and perfect.
