WOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOT!!!!!!!!!
I'm planning on 1, hopefully 2 trips to the US in 2015 and seeing what else we can do the rest of the year. Either Bali or Thailand in March. Looking for a warm 4-day getaway in Feb but don't want to fly super far. Probably Hong Kong in the fall.

Boston in April and looking for something towards the end of the year. Just running through various ideas right now. Some small local trips during the summer months.

We are going to Mexico for NYE this year and will be there until Jan 2.
Probably Florida in Jan or Feb.
Next summer we can't decide. We have to pick a free trip again - Bali (at a Four Seasons too!), Malta, Greek Islands/turkey cruise, are at the top of the list.
2015 is still two months away! Normally I wouldn't have anything booked besides my New Year's overlap trip! So... January - Cambodia & southern Vietnam
However, I do happen to have a banking and administrative trip to Indiana booked in February, since I stumbled on a $600 flight and thought I should grab it while I can. I really need to get that administrative stuff sorted out.
Planned but not booked: GenCon in July with my best friend. Somewhere in the first week of April. Destination as yet unknown.
Still extremely tentative: New Zealand in October/November
iammalcolmx do it! And do one of these tours so I can live vicariously through you. My trip is with my in-laws and they're not interested.
As an alternative, the Shiekh Mohammed Center for Cultural Understanding (or something like that - I can't remember the exact name) does really good cultural breakfasts and lunches with "traditional" UAE food. Along with that you get to have interesting discussions with active Muslims living in Dubai and no topic is off limits. It definitely has a little bit of a PR-like spin to it but we really enjoyed it and I would highly recommend it.
Also do a desert tour. It is nice to get out of the city!
Interesting. I am totally going back and forth between Dubai or an Istanbul layover to see my husbands family. AHHHHHH!!
Still, even though I don't really like Dubai I'd recommend a stopover there. It is interesting. I wish we'd had time to get to Abu Dhabi but we were so tired while there that we just laid on the beach and swam in the Arabian (or Persian, depending on who you ask) Gulf. That's a nice way to spend a day. We also went clubbing there one night which was really kind of surreal.
This reminds me, how is the water? We're staying at the Burj al Arab, but the pools seem lackluster and I'm wondering if that's because everyone swims in the Gulf.

Yes, please! Also if you go to Dubai, I'd be happy to reciprocate. To start - La Petite Maison is one of my most favorite meals ever. Their cheesecake is to die for.
I liked this place, my Dad and Step-mom went here tons. Walk on Ave Atlantica but this time one block away from Leme( towards the Windsor hotel) then walk down that first side street. www.yelp.com/biz/la-trattoria-rio-de-janeiro-2
If you want a nice Feijoada looking at the beach walk on Ave Atlantica a little past the Windsor hotel again until you get to "Astoria Palace Hotel" the restaurant right next to it was always good.
This is a good Sushi place on the 7th floor of the Botofogo shopping mall. The views of Pão de Açúcar ( Sugarloaf) are to die for. www.kotobuki.com.br/

I loved this place in Ipanema and it's actually not that expensive for what you get:
Although, don't go there when it's raining. We went right before it started storming and the inside completely flooded. I got soaked just trying to use the bathroom before they closed it down entirely. Being Rio, I wouldn't count on them having fixed it by now, 8 months later LOL.

Well I realize this is a potential flameful, but I don't think Dubai warrants a trip in and of itself (I actually decided I don't really like the city the second time I was there), but if you can add it as a 2-3 day stopover once I think it is worth it to see it. It's a really interesting spot. There's a ton of over-the-top opulence and if you drive outside the city you see all the immigrant workers' living conditions and it is really a pretty terrible juxtaposition. The city itself is very nice, modern, clean, and IMO a little (lot) sterile. I also just think the mindset of Dubai is gross - they're just trying to do the biggest everything, from the largest single-pane of glass (an aquarium in the mall) to the tallest building to the largest mall (note: they're building a larger mall to eclipse the world's largest mall). They're also building the world's largest Disney (or so our guide told us), which will be something like 280 acres. They're also recreating seven "wonders of the world" (note: their wonders) at 1.5 scale. So apparently they're making a luxury hotel in a replica of the Taj Mahal, but 1.5 times the size of it, and it pissed India off. I think plans also call for a replica of the Eiffel Tower but at 1.5 scale. I think it also included the Hanging Gardens of Babylon and the Leaning Tower in Pisa.
Still, even though I don't really like Dubai I'd recommend a stopover there. It is interesting. OK see this isn't flameful at ALL. I was thinking of staying at the Burj Al Arab but I watched a video about it and just wasn't blown away. Maybe I will stick to seeing the family in Istanbul. I could save money as well since I can fly Premium Economy on TK for around $2,000.

I don't have anything booked yet. But tentative plans are:
1. Vegas or NOLA in February to celebrate a good friend's birthday 2. Berlin and Prague in March (this will be me and my boyfriend's first real vacation together!) 3. TBD Caribbean island in mid-May for a girls trip with my sister - exact location will depend on where we can get the best deal and direct flights from DC or Baltimore 4. California (some combination of San Francisco, LA, and San Diego) or Midwest (some combination of St Louis, Chicago, Minneapolis, and Milwaukee) sometime in the summer to hit up a few baseball stadiums
I'm starting my New year in Amsterdam. H and I are celebrating New Years there. After that I think we don't have anything on the books. Sometimes our trips are super last minute decisions.
Spending the whole month of July in Paris with the kids. DD is going to summer camp during the week, then Depending on DS's temperament, we may take weekend trips to Dublin and Madrid. DH will try to fly over in August and we'll either go to the Pyrenees, Provence or Barcelona the four of us,
still trying to figure out February and April vacations. dD has school breaks, but DH may not have time off. If he doesn't, we'll just fly somewhere to see friends or family.
Spain over spring break with the nephew- nothing booked. I told him we'd book flights no later than January. Possibly Alaska with my parents in August- land only, no cruise. Nothing booked yet. My mom needs to call about that as we can stay in the military resort with her and my dad's retired status.
Travel has come to a complete halt since having dd. H and I are going to Mexico in March without the baby, but that's all we have planned. I'm itching to do a Japan trip, but I'm sure we won't do anything international with her in 2015. I'd like to plan something smaller-scale for next summer, maybe Charleston?
