So cute! You are making me want to take my flat twists down. I look a hot mess now and all I can do is put it in a protective style till I get some time. I've had my hair in flat twists since B was born almost 3 weeks ago. When I did go out for her appointments, I either had my hair in a halo updo or I just took the twists out in the front of my hair and put a beanie over the rest of my hair.
When I get the chance to style my hair, I will try my puff (this is my hair from last year):
I used a stocking leg and gathered it loosely around my hair that was in a twist out. My hair is usually in flat twists that is bantu knotted at the ends the night before.
Oh. So, I'm not black. In the least. But can I play? I just wanted to AW my 2nd day hair using only V05 Strawberry conditioner and Shea Moisture coconut milk stuff. Not bad AND you can go natural without breaking the bank! *poof* Thanks for all the "likes!"
It's a technique that's supposed to fully hydrate your hair, but it's so time consuming, I've only done it twice. It's recommended you do it 7 days in a row. Aint nobody got time for that!
Step 1: Co-wash with conditioner and baking soda. Rinse. Step 2: Deep condition for 20ish minutes. Detangle/rinse Step 3: Apply bentonite clay to hair. Leave on 20ish minutes. Rinse. Step 4: Condition again. Rinse. Step 5: Add gel to wet hair to set curls.
I did notice more curl definition, but it just takes so much time!
Ohhh, I did P's hair super cute today and didn't take a picture of it. I will take one later if she hasn't messed it up at school.
how long can a style stay in her hair? Y's hair looks 2 days old the second I'm done with it. drives.me.mad
Looks great in the morning, a mess when she comes home. The one style that holds pretty well is a braid around the front edge that goes back into the poof.
I feel like people think I don't do her hair, and I am sensitive to it because I know they assume I am white.

yeah, I'll have to try more braided styles. I'm not too concerned about what people think though, but it does drive me crazy that I can't get her to stay in a style for very long. I've taken to drying on a low setting blow dryer before putting it into either 4 braids or twists. That seems to help it a little.
How do you all have 4 day old twist outs? My twist out lasts one day thats it! Unless i re twist at night
Usually I retwist mine too if my hair got too fuzzy during the first day or if I want my hair to stretch more. If my twists turned out perfect, I pineapple my hair (put it in a loose high ponytail and wrap it).
If your hair is a little shorter, put your hair in multiple ponytails. In the morning, just fluff your hair and go :-). Here is an example of it:
These are some of my favorites. My hair is actually in 4 cornrows that I tuck under a beanie with some bangs out. I have bandages in my head from a procedure so right now I'm just in cover up mode. The puff is my wash-n-go style. It takes all of 3 minutes.
I also pineapple my hair to keep my teistouts. I retest every third day or so. I like big hair so pineappling also helps stretch my hair to make it bigger.
@barefootbarista I'm dying at the teacher making a toboggan. She is so adorable.
I was a 20 million ponytails with loud barrettes kid in the 80'd. I remember trying to brush out the sand with my hands before going home from school. The only thing I hated more than getting my hair come bed was getting my hair washed and combed. I wish my teacher had thought to make me a protective hat.
