Yesterday at work, we had a discussion of how awesome it would be if the announcement of college bowl games was treated more like a gender reveal party.
The commissioner cuts into a cake shaped like the Rose Bowl. OMG! IT'S USC AND WISCONSIN!
I am in a good mood today. I am looking forward to the weekend, my BF is turning in a paper tomorrow and that marks the end of several weeks in a row of being buried in school. We are going to hang out and have fun together most of the weekend, and I can't wait!
I just ordered some new boots, a dress to wear to a wedding next weekend, and some sexy undergarnments from Lane Bryant. I have never really shopped there before for anything but boots (big calves) but I'm up to their size now, and I'm pleased to see how many cute things they have. Makes me feel better about being larger if I can buy clothing that looks flattering... I hope it looks flattering on me, at least. I'm excited to get the stuff. Annoyed that I just paid $14 for shipping to get it Monday, when it would have been free shipping if I was willing to risk not having it in time for the wedding. I'm 99% sure I'd have received it next week anyway, but of course if I didn't pay extra for shipping this would probably be the 1 time things ship slow.

@mrschicken and @buckybells I love your attitudes today!
I am pretty happy today. I finished a big work project this week and got a lot of accolades, and the rest of my week is pretty quiet. DH's birthday is tomorrow and we are so excited to hang out in the garage tomorrow night and watch movies on the projection screen while drinking Halloween themed drinks and handing out candy to the zillions of kids in our neighborhood. Then on Saturday we are doing a private sailing charter for the afternoon. So excited!
Our new furniture is being delivered tomorrow, and we're going on a trip next weekend.
I feel like the furniture I ordered is NEVER going to be delivered. I don't even remember what it looked it. Sheesh. Buying adult furniture is such a drawn out process! I am glad you are getting yours
mbcdefg - did you get an ikea couch or something else?
I got my free coffee this AM using my coffee punch card dealy. Of course I got the bigger cup, so I am hopped up on caffeine. Wheeee!
And I booked a fancy hotel for the same price as a Doubletree in Boston, so that's pretty awesome, too.
I buried the story in a Weekend PIP post, but first we went to Bob's and saw nothing we liked. Then we went to Raymour and Flanigan and saw a set we liked OK, but we didn't love the color and there weren't any other colors available. So then we went to IKEA and said if we didn't like anything there, we'd probably go back and get the R&F set.
We got to IKEA and really liked the Tidafors sofa and loveseat, so we paid for them and they packed it up for us. They said it'd be four boxes, so we figured we could get one or two in the car, then we'd have to lock the others in those outdoor lockers, drive it home and unload it (we live about 20 minutes from IKEA), and maybe bring both our cars back for the rest. We picked up the first box and tried to load it, and there was absolutely no way it could fit in the car. We didn't feel like renting a truck or hiring a service, and we don't know anyone who could loan us a pickup. MH (already very cranky by this point) suggesting strapping it to the roof and I immediately said NO because I could just picture it flying off on the Turnpike and causing a huge accident. So we just went right back inside, returned all of it, and went home all grumpy.
We visited my mom a couple days later and she has a Value City Furniture near her house, so we stopped in there "just to look" since we got our current set from them. We wound up really liking a set, and they were running a sale, so we wound up getting a sofa, loveseat, AND a dresser to complete our bedroom set, for less money than we had paid for the two IKEA couches. valuecitynj.com/category/living-room/darcy-loveseat-mocha.html

I'm really aggravated that the place where we bought ours ONLY delivers on Fridays. I have to WFH and we won't know until tonight when to expect the delivery.

Is that a standard thing, or is my store a PITA?
Well, I have no clue when mine will actually deliver lol. So I can't help you there They didn't mention anything about one specific day though.

I finally heard back on my counter, they met in middle (which is what I was going for). I am waiting for the offer letter to come through, but I have new job!!!!!!!!!!
mbcdefg - that sofa looks so comfy! I see a weekend nap on the couch in your future
We're heading towards the end of November. We've been meaning to go all year just for the heck of it, and of course we only manage to do it when the weather is cold. Oh well.

Enjoy!
We go to Boston every year in the days immediately after Christmas. Some years we've been in snowstorms!
We're going to Montreal next week - we always go in November, because MH has off for Teachers' Convention or a long Thanksgiving break. Some people have said we're nuts for going when it's so cold, but we like it. I HATE sightseeing in the summer.
I was uploading pictures and this one made me laugh. It is DH, DD1, and DS2 watching the new washing machine wash clothes. I guess we were hurting for entertainment that day.Attachment Deleted
H was up last night hacking up a lung so decided to send me a fb message (private, we aren't THAT couple) that said: Thanks for putting up with me while I am sick, I know that I am a pain. I love you more than you will ever know.
My boss and his boss took me out to lunch today. It was a great lunch, we had fun. The sandwich had some kind of oil on it that tasted like rye chips in gardettos. Then we walked back to work and he gave me a great tour and history of the area.
Speaking of hurting for entertainment, I took my kids to the grocery store last night for some kind of Halloween open house. It was pretty lame, squirting some colored icing on a cookie and face painting.
But I did get to pilfer their candy and eat the 2 Baby Ruth bars! Yum!
I am considering hiring a student to make my dog's Halloween costume. I suspect that her costume will be more of a stage for picture type rather than functional
I have a date tonight, we're going to an event on creativity and then on a quest for costume pieces. I told him I was going to be Bride of Frankenstein and he offered to be my Frankenstein. I'm so excited. He's a good egg.
This is delayed, but I got to meet RockNVoll and UnderProtest this week! You 2 are great. (Also, I just found out one of my good work besties may be moving to our London office for 2 years...you would love her.)
In other news, I got a handwritten note from my boss' boss today...it said a bunch of encouraging and awesome stuff and made my day. Best bit: "Thank you for walking right into the heart of the really hard stuff and making it so amazing that people want to join you." I was exhausted and jet lagged, and told him it made my day.

It was great meeting you too! I have more than quintupled the number of nesties I've meet in the last week. Let me know if your work bestie needs anything.
I can't decide what I want to do for my birthday this weekend. Atlanta has so much great stuff around! Winery tour? Dinner in town? Drive to Savannah? Too many choices!

Omg yes! But hurry, its tomorrow and we need Halloween Miso!
