Do any of you have your kiddos on Omega-3 supplements?
I've hesitated to say anything recently about this, but I'm a believer now.
We started Will (who has been diagnosed with all three I listed in the subject line) on Little Critters Omega-3 gummies about three weeks ago and the difference we've noticed in him is absolutely unbelievable.
He's having awesome days at school - no bad notes coming home, his clip gets moved up every day on the "good decision" chart, and he's gotten the "good bunny" award twice <3. He's also transitioning SO much better at home, not having meltdowns as much, and is just so damn pleasant to be around (which I've not been able to say in awhile).
We also cut out Red 40 from his diet. I know Jermys has talked about this before, but Red 40 makes Will a maniac that can't be controlled. Since cutting that out, and adding the Omega-3s, he's a different kid.
Anyway, I thought it was worth mentioning.
Particularly for ASD moms - did you read the studies that just came out about broccoli sprout extract? We're considering starting him on this as well.
I've not tried it with ds, but I may give it a shot, especially since it's a gummy.
They smell funky, but Will is ridic picky and he still eats them. I think they're worth a try. If nothing else, they're good for them regardless, right?
My DS has ADHD. We've tried eliminating Red 40, but unfortunately, after 6 months, it didn't seem to make a difference. We just started him on Omega 3 this week, so this update makes me very hopeful!

We give DD (ASD) a multi vitamin with Omega 3 not sure if it is helping or not. We've seen a lot of improvement but we switched around the same time she started her ABA school so may be a little bit of both.
Yes, we give DS Nordic Naturals. I didn't think it was doing anything until I ran out. There is a marked difference in his attention when he doesn't take it.
Thanks. DH and I are starting to suspect our seven year old has ADHD. The online self-diagnosis tests suggest he has moderate ADHD. He's very successful at school, so I don't think medication is necessary. But his behavior at home - OMG!

I am medicated but trying to get off and I am really learning a lot of tips from this book in regards to diet, supplements and just daily techniques to incorporate into my life.

We do the Little Critters, too.
I only do it when I remember, though, because despite being consistent with it for months, it doesn't make a noticeable difference for DD1 and I don't feel bad about missing days. But they're not bad for her, and she tends to eat very low-fat anyway (doesn't drink white milk), so we've kept on. I give them to my NT DD2 as well.

Ooh, tell me more!
I give him this one. I ran it by our pediatrician first and he was ok with it. He said there is some research to indicate that increased amounts of DHA can help with focus and attention. When he is taking it, he can stay in circle time without distraction, follow story time in the library without needed a movement break, and just seems more "there." When I ran out, DS (4) was definitely more scattered. He would forget was he was saying in the middle on a conversation and just go off to something else. He couldn't stay with games or play for more than a few minutes at a time. His sleep was also not as good.
