I can't wear earrings anymore bc I get infections every time even with gold and my gma is the same way (my mom can wear anything though). I'm worried that could happen to may so she needs to be older (like at least elementary before I will even consider it)

Do you guys with pierced ears remember when they would crust over overnight and you'd have to turn them in the morning and riiiiip that scab off. I remember it so vividly.
I think I'm arguing for piercing your kids' ears when they are newborns and not waiting until they are 12, aren't I?

When you do get them pierced, take her to a piercing studio to get it down with a needle and not the gun. It's less painful and less traumatizing to the ear.
At this age those sticker earrings are just as fun!

This is truth and putting a hoop in it rather than a stud prevents the turning/ripping. All my other piercings before my first ones with guns healed beautifully.

Same with me. I get infections with any kind of metal. I also reacted to the surgical staples from my c/s.

I had to wait until I was 10, while I hated waiting that long when most of my friends had them it probably was the right age for me. I definitely wouldn't judge anyone who did it sooner though.
If you do choose to do it I would find a place that will do both ears at the same time, that way you don't end up walking out with only one done!

I wanted to pierce Lila's at birth, but since it was so traumatic, that idea got forgotten. I wouldn't do it now because I could totally see her ripping them out because it hurt. If I did clip-ons, she would pull them right off. No point for me.
But my sister bought a sheet of earring tattoos for Lila. I love them and so does she! Plus they stay on longer than stickers and L loves looking at them in the mirror. It's cute!

I don't judge anyone for doing it early, it just seems like an extra thing to clean and take care of this early. I also have vivid memories of the day my mom took me to get mine. I was 8 I think and she made a whole day of it with lunch out and it seemed so special to me. I want to do similar with autumn.
DD constantly makes comments about my earrings (and my mother's and my sister's and every other woman she comes into contact with). Even if she asked me tote her ears pierced (which she hasn't yet) I'm going to hold off until she's old enough to "get" it. It was a privilege for us growing up, and I want it to be the same for her.
