Did anyone else hear this today? It basically said that midterm elections are usually more conservative b/c the conservative-religious base is counted on to vote, but women, especially single women, don't come to the polls.
Also it discusses the "wins" for Republicans who want over-the-counter birth control options and so more independent women are looking at this as taking care of the woman's health issue(s) and then can look at the economy.
Take a listen to the 3-min story and let's talk.
Basically, I'm not sure I think this article makes sense. Don't many Republicans want to move birth control to over-the-counter so that it doesn't fall under health care costs and instead it's a direct cost to the patient? I guess I'm confused on that issue being a "win" for most women.
In presidential elections, Democrats have been on the winning end of the gender gap — but that hasn't been true in midterms. Renee Montagne speaks with NPR's Mara Liasson about women in this election.
