I seeded and chopped a Serrano pepper for our dinner tonight and now the tops of my fingers are burning. Why the tops!? I slathered my hands in sour cream (it's the only dairy we have), which helped for a few minutes, but now they hurt again. I have got to start wearing gloves when I chop spicy peppers. Ugh.

I remember reading or hearing to coat your fingers with olive oil, it helps protect your skin.
