Today was my defense of my thesis and comprehension exams.
We went over my comp exams and I discussed my answers. It went well. Everything was satisfactory.
Then we discussed my thesis.
You guys. They said things I hadn't even dreamed that they would. They told me it was an amazing thesis with excellent uses of sources. They told me that I have added substantially to the field that my thesis covers. They talked about the ways I could expand my thesis into a dissertation because all three committee members said I should "strongly consider" applying for a PhD because my thesis on is "attention-worthy" and "extremely publishable." They even said that if I didn't want to apply for a PhD at their university that they would each be delighted to write me a "glowing recommendation letter" because they feel so strongly about my work and my abilities. They had only 2 critiques of my thesis and said they felt nit-picky because the only critiques they could offer were normally reserved for PhD students and their dissertations. They called me their poster child of the M.A. program.

I normally don't advocate for my students to get a PhD (job market, blah blah), but it sound like you are setting out to be a rockstar! Congratulations to the future Dr. Glitzyglow!
Thank you everyone! I honestly don't know what I want to do. They were so earnest in their recommendation, but the job market outlook for my field is awful. The idea of pursuing a PhD is at the back of my mind (if I did it I would apply to begin in the 2016-2017 academic year), but for now I'm going enjoy my newfound free time and explore any opportunities that may be available to me currently.
