Probably no more than 5. One for rent. Two for therapy (mine and his). Occasionally 1 other for something random. This month it was a $3 check to the Supreme Court of Wisconsin because the court is stuck in the 20th century and doesn't take online payments.
4 to 5 checks to our church (I could do this online, but I've been too lazy to set it up.) Maybe one other check if we have some random tax/registration bill due. Or if we're paying a contractor for work on the house.
I write one every other month to our trash collector, plus randoms like the occasional one to the kennel to board the Doggies Derkins when we go on vacation.
Zero for the last 7 months. For 5 years before the aforementioned months I wrote 1x/month for rent. Now they take rent directly out of my checking account.

6-8. Weekly to daycare, monthly to karate, quarterly to life insurance, as needed for school stuff Edit: plus car registration, infrequent car downpayment type situations, contractors
Usually 2. One for my mortgage bc otherwise there is a $4 fee to do an online transfer. There's usually one other random thing that will pop up, like Girl Scout cookies, paying a friend back, etc
I am either in the negative or average exactly 1 per month. I write 2 checks quarterly for garbage and water, and then I pay my property taxes by check twice a year. I'm sure I might write a handful of others randomly over the year, but nothing with any regularity.

About 1 on average. All city and county government payments have to be by check unless I want to pay a fee (water/sewer, citations, speeding tickets, property taxes, DMV license/renewals, etc.)

Probably average 1-2 a month. I know we use checks to pay the dog sitter (varies how often we need this), car insurance (every 6 months), and occasionally paying a friend/family for something.
On average just one for afterschool care. But occasionally write checks for hot lunches (I just send in a rounded $ amount for each boy on an every 2-3 month basis) and DH's tool account with Snap-On.

Maybe one or two. I wrote one last night for DD's school lunch account since they charge extra fees to add money online. Sometimes I make charitable donations via check.

Typically, none. Every once in a while I'll need a check for something, like a Girl Scout activity that isn't covered by regular dues, or to pay for something at the girls' school (which reminds me I need to send one for #2s class treasury), but those times are few and far between. We don't use checks unless we absolutely have to b/c CCs are not an accepted form of payment.
