Do they exist? We are slipping into freezing temps for tonight. I am having a sort of open house where my friends can come hang out, trick or treat in the neighborhood, etc. our neighborhood turns into a block party. Should I make hot chocolate for everyone and let the adults spike theirs or kids get hot chocolate and I make some apple cider warm drink? I was going to make an apple sangria when the forecast was for warmer weather. Is there something better?
I want this NOW. That sounds amazing. So many good suggestions on this thread! Sorry I don't have any of my own. As a Florida girl, I don't need warm drinks too often.
INGREDIENTS: 7 cups apple cider 1/3 cup brown sugar 4 cinnamon sticks 1 teaspoon whole allspice 1 teaspoon whole cloves 1 tablespoon lemon zest 1 1/2 cups dark rum 1/2 cup butterscotch schnapps
DIRECTIONS: 1.Combine the cider and brown sugar in a saucepan. Wrap the cinnamon sticks, allspice, cloves and lemon zest in cheesecloth and add to the cider mixture; bring to a boil; reduce heat and simmer 15 minutes. Remove the spice bundle and stir in the rum and butterscotch schnapps. Serve warm in mugs.
Okay, now I want all the drinks. Hmm.... I have to put my alcohol order in with DH soon. He is on his way home from work. Living in a dry county sucks.
We are doing hot apple cider and Smirnoff Carmel Kissed vodka.
Ugh, I was debating this because that was going to go in my "Apple sangria". I was scared of hot vodka. I don't really know why... I told DH to get me lots of red wine blends for mulled wine and we are getting peppermint schnapps and baileys. You have to tell me how this turns out.
