Someone from the (pretty large) trail running group I'm in suggested this. I'm not single now, and wasn't active when I was single, but what do you all think? Good idea? Already exists? Branch out and meet some other people, ya weirdo?
I can really see the appeal of having a partner who shares your enthusiasm for your sport. MH is great and very supportive, but I still feel guilty when I want to go off on a long run every weekend, and he's made it pretty clear that a vacation planned around a running event for me doesn't sound fun or fair to him, with the exception that if I ever BQ, we'll of course go do that as a family.
Love of my life baby boy born 11/11. One and done not by choice; 3 years of TTC yielded 4 MMC and 2 CPs, through 4 IUIs and 2 IVFs. Focusing on making the world a better place instead...and running.
Her point was also that she's so busy with FT job, child, and training for a 100 miler, that she really doesn't have time to date someone that she can't get to know while out running, for example.

They do exist. It wasn't super popular where I live so I ended up on Match. I made sure to highlight how busy/active I am so it would kind of weed out the couch potatoes. Also, it was pretty easy for me to weed them out if they still contacted me. If someone's profile said they liked watching movies, tv and football, it was pretty clear our expectations wouldn't match up.
If I was actively looking to date, I'd include it in my profile on a dating site (which is what I did when I met H through Match). H isn't a runner now, but has run a marathon years ago and he is into other activities outside (hikes, snowshoeing, etc.) that we do share.
If just looking for friends who share running, there are meetup.com groups that could be for just finding other folks with common interests. Not necessarily for singles only but ya never know.

May I ask what the name is? I just want to pass it on to this new friend.

Thanks! I know this gal through a Meetup group already, lol. She was joking that it seems too incestuous to look for a mate in the group, which is pretty close-knit. I'm sure if something sparked with a member who's also single, she'd be fine, but it's a lot of the marrieds like me.

Yeah, that makes sense. Well, if she hasn't already, she should spread the word among the group that she's looking to meet someone- you never know who in the group might know someone. Networking!lol

Yes! That is so true. The irony is that I was trying to get a friend of mine to come to the party last night to meet a guy that I think she'd hit it off with.
