I'm at a loss. What does one wear to an early afternoon charity fashion show? My mom's company is sponsoring this thing for St. Jude, so she had an extra ticket. It's Sunday morning/afternoon.
I would wear a nice dress sort of like if I were going to church. Anything on a Sunday afternoon means people coming from church and might be a little more dressed up. A sweater dress works for just about anything. Or slacks and a peplum top with a nice necklace.

I'm thinking a fit and flare dress with a cropped blazer, tigts (possibly fleece lined), and booties. You could do a blouse, skater skirt, and cropped blazer too. Give it some color and fun with a statement necklace and make the booties fun too. With your location and snow already starting to hit, I'd want to be warm, but fun and I think there's big chance that a large segment of the crowd won't be coming from Church due to Saturday Mass and non-religious types.

This sounds right to me.
Unless it's a jeans situation, I usually default to a simple knee-length sheath dress because it's universally appropriate. I can pair it with a blazer (for a businesslike situation) or a cardigan (more feminine). Otherwise, a knee-length skirt (or pants) with a classic blouse is universal.
