Hold up. Mars bars are still produced? C'mon Canada, you've been holding out on us?
We had 0 Elsas, 0 Annas, and 1 Olaf. Every other Disney princess and Pixar movie was represented. The trendy costume was superheroes for both boys and girls.
Heck, yes, we have Mars. They're so good.
We got a few Frozen kids but lots of Marvel superheroes. And some Marios.
I got no frozens. Lots of marvel and Mario though. Kids in the area are very small (2-5 years) so a lot of furry bears and monkeys.

I'm done. Wine in hand. In a wine glass, 212. Wine shower to commence shortly. I've been halloweening since the 3pm parade at DS's school and then we did ToTing with neighborhood friends.... TIRED, ya'll.
We have a neighboring street that goes all out on holidays too. Halloween has been a recent addition to their repertoire, but holy shit it's Griswold city at Christmas. They get so many lookiloos that they put out a collection bin for the food bank. It's become a tradition for a lot of people.
Wth we have had like 5 kids. And last year we ran out of candy. Come on kiddos!
DS was so damn cute in his turtle costume though.
Change out turtle with pumpkin and this is us.
A buck (deer with horns, thats a buck, right?)was just grazing in the front yard. i told dh to go offer it some peppermint patties since we will have so many left.
It's 8:27 pm and DD is still running around outside with the kids from the other buildings on my block. I'm glad DH came home from work early because I'm going to bed now and she would have hated me for making her come in.
I am hoping for a nice long stretch of sleep before DS wakes up. I don't know if the overstimulation of Halloween will make him sleep well or poorly.

In my dreams, I would rival Danny devito in Deck the Halls but dh reigns me in. One house near us even has their own radio station playing Christmas music when you sit outside. It's insane. Their lights dance to the music like the Bellagio in Vegas.
Today was busy - I take Halloween off every year (it's my birthday) but in the last two years I've spent it going to parades and helping with class parties, then taking the girls TOTing. I love it, though, that it's more about the girls having fun than my birthday because lord knows I want to forget that I've turned a year older, lol. Girls had a blast tonight and got loads of candy.
ETA: We are now drinking hot chocolate and watching The Nightmare before Christmas. And DD1 & DD2 burnt their tongues, ha!

DD is really still too little to trick-or-treat, but we had a big carry-in at work and I brought her in to see people there. She was a Colts cheerleader. Everyone loved her.
We got zero kids here. It's the first Halloween for us in this house, and we're kind of out in the county, but I was still hoping we'd get some.

We went ToTing with our friends and their 4 year old. DD loved it but didn't want to stop. I think we hit 15 houses or so. Then I had to confiscate a bunch of her candy because it was all choking hazards and none of it is stuff I want to eat.
Our 8 year old neighbor asked H why he had to work today (I think our schools were out for parent conferences today). Then she asked him why he wasn't ToT'ing. She was very disappointed in his answers, lol.

Huge success over here!
DS1's preschool had a little parade and he wore his costume and walked like a big boy - he's shy so this is huge. I wore DS2 and this was his first official non doctor appt outing. He slept the whole time.
Then DH and my Dad took DS1 ToT. I honestly thought he would be too shy or just wouldn't get it. But he loved it! They were gone for 30 minutes. Apparently he kept saying different house and was really good at saying bye bye and thank you, although ToT was hit or miss.
My last day of work was today but I'm weirdly at peace With it because it means I get to spend a lot of time with DS around the holidays. I think that was obvious because I brought h with me to pick up my stuff and sign papers, lol
I'm glad my kids got to ToT last Sunday at my inlaws house. It was warm and beautiful and they had a blast. Tonight was total crap out but I didn't feel like we really had to do it since they had Sunday. On the way home earlier DD requested Chipotle tacos and actually ate one but she didn't feel up for going out ToTing. DH an took the boys around to maybe a dozen neighbors and DD and I bundled up and handed out candy. She loved it and I loved having company! After that I took the baby in and got him fed, bathed and down for the night. DH said we probably had 100 kids. He turned off the lights and came in to help with bedtime at 7:30. Everyone's down for the night and DH and I are watching college football.
It feels great to be home but we've been up for 31 hours! I was able to sleep about an hour on the plane. I seriously don't know how I'm awake right now.
Oh did I mention that the baby really started walking while we were OOT? He took his first few steps the week before, but now he's walking across the room and he loved his costume. Cutest little waddling duck ever <3
DS loved ToTing. We walked probably 1.5 miles. He didn't get scared at all! The only part that sucked was him getting knocked off the 3rd stair of someone's front porch because some asshole older kids were pushing their way up. We had 3 adults and 3 2 year olds trying to get the little ones down the stairs and back to the driveway safely, but obviously we failed. One mom picked my kid up as I turned around and went a bit mama bear on them. There was a dad at the end of the sidewalk with his young kids that I think I scared a bit. Oops.

DD ate a package of M&Ms and a Milky Way bar. She kept walking to the bowl for the ToTers and trying to take more, but we told her she had to wait until tomorrow. Now she's in bed (singing, not asleep), and DH and I are trying to agree on a movie to watch. I'm more of a corny 80s horror movie person; he prefers the actually scary movies that give me nightmares. We're probably going to end up watching a comedy because there's no way we're going to find a horror movie on Netflix that we both watch.

We had so much fun! For some reason, M lost his shit when I took pictures, but was happy the rest of the evening. We took him to about 6 houses and then came home, it's so cold and windy today. He had 3 pieces of chocolate and was in heaven.
And I'm going to AW because I'm super proud. I made his jacket out of a red sweatshirt, and I think it looks awesome. I just wish he had let me get better pics.
We went ToTing w/ my bff and her 2 y/o. It was 35, windy and snowing, but the boys did great!
One of the houses had a monster in the window (a man, dressed up) and N was obsessed with "da monster!" the rest of the time. We only ended up going to 10ish houses, but he asked about the monster at each one.
I am about to watch Hocus Pocus and pick up the house. I just got N down, fingers crossed that he actually goes to sleep!
Our neighborhood goes all out. Kids are everywhere. One house does hot dogs and frito pies for everyone, we had one turn their garage into a big haunted house full of his junior high daughters friends as the actors. (did not take my kids in thank goodness. I got to the girl dressed as a creepy old fashioned baby doll rocking a baby doll in a corner and was like why did I come in here!?)
Then there is the guy with a DJ and strobe light set up. This was all just on our block.
It was cold and windy here so the baby didn't make it long.
This was DS's first time ToTing, we had previously answered the door at my parent's house for their ToTers. He did GREAT! Said "trick or treat", please and thank you, really enjoyed walking around. We did 5-6 houses (they're a bit spread out) and he decided he was done. "Go home eat candy NOW......please." He's only 2.5 so I think he did awesome!
He refused to wear the fireman hat though. Womp womp.
i am bummed my ILs decided to trick or treat 45 minutes away so we couldn't take L and go with our nieces like we have for 5 years. we have always done it in mil & fils neighborhood (only 15 min away) but sil changed it this year.
also my niece's birthday party is tomorrow and it's ALL day. 12-5. um, no.

It's 8:30 and I finally got a few ToTers. I live on the least developed street in a new construction neighborhood on the top of a big hill. After no one came, I posted on the neighborhood FB page that ant kids who made it up here got quadruple candy. The parents drive them, but at least my late afternoon candy buying wasn't in vane.
DH took DS over to his cousins that got zero trick or treaters. They may hit up some neighbours in the new (apparently childfree) part of town while they're there.
