We've had 1 kid. I'm so sad. Last year we lived in a Halloween tourist town. Kids came from all over to trick or treat there. DH and I would have a blast hanging out on the steps, drinking wine and handing out candy. This year is no fun.
We've had more kids this year when it's chilly and rainy than we have in the past two years when it was nice out. Go figure. That's fine, the less candy we have lying around, the less I'll eat! Unless I happen to come across a post-holiday sale....
ToT hours just ended and we got about 40 kids this year. Several small groups towards the beginning, a big gap of nothingness and then a few groups towards the end. I still have a decent amount of candy left. Oh, darn... Not many little kids this year, which was disappointing.

I took the kids out ToT with my parents while DH stayed home to hand out candy. We came back 45-60 minutes later and let DD ring out own doorbell. DH said we were the first people to ring the bell. More people have come since then, but I am pretty sure we are going to have candy left over. I think a lot of people skip past out street.
I am on my way to work--I'm supervising a student event tonight, tomorrow from 9-5 and 630-11, and Sunday from 1230-5. On Sunday morning, I'm running a half marathon.
On paper, this suuuuuuuucks. In reality, I will get to watch a lot of Gilmore girls and catch up on my alterations work. So a pretty great silver lining.
We never got our first kids until 6:45! Last year was way busier and earlier...school night I guess. Football game is home too. We've had big groups but lots of lulls. Probably 75 kids. Our black cat is a big hit all the kids have been petting him and forgetting to take candy. He is loving the attention.
We've lived in the same house for 7 Halloweens, and I can't figure out why some years we run out of candy early (last year), and others we barely go through half (this year).
This year people must not have gotten the memo that there were puppy sharks at our address.
Weird moment of the night: a mom of a ToTer said she saw the golden on our mailbox, and asked me if we had one. (Yes, 2.) Then she asked if I had a female who wasn't fixed. (Um, no...?) She was bummed, she was looking for a female to breed her male to.
^o)
I mean I think the Puppies Derkins are a delight too, but seriously? Hell to the no, even if Puppy D wasn't fixed!
Susie I love your doggies! My golden retriever is being such a great Helper! Dog! Handing out candy tonight. She even got to greet a few dog-loving kids enthusiastically.
Sorry for the repeat, ig/twitter/FB friends. I'm still giggling.
Ok so I confess..
I was looking at your dogs on the app so the pic was big and some TOT's came up so I put the phone down on my arm rest (we're out sitting in the driveway). And I was passing out candy when one of the kids said "I like the pic of your dog.."
I looked down thinking it was my dog on my phone but it was yours! I said thanks as I wasn't about to try and explain a message board to a kid :-)
I bought 300 glow sticks. We went through about 250 of them! I've always wondered how many kids we got, and clearly it's over 200. This year was slower than usual I thought Friday would be more busy, but apparently not, go figure!
Here is a pic of my little ToTer. She went to the vet in costume today, too. Everyone loved her and they may put her on their webpage

We live in a rural area so we leave a bowl of things out for ToT'ers. I'm guessing we had about 3 kids which is normal. I don't buy candy since we get so few kids. Instead I handed out juice boxes and granola bars.
Oh, and I was surprised at the glow stick reaction. Most kids thought it was cool or at least cool enough. Some, including some Tweens, thought it was the most awesome thing ever. And then one little girl, when told she could have a stick or bracelets responded "candy stick?" Ah well. Our house is cool enough to make up for no candy. We even had the fog machine going this year!
Man, we had more trick or treaters than a lot of you!
Only 8 Elsas and Annas... (I can't tell the difference, so counted both)
It was about a 50/50 split between American and Korean kids. And, man, the Korean kids this year had some awesome costumes! (it's not a holiday here, so we were not expecting so many, or so well costumed...) There were a handful of Korean kids last year, but many more this year. I guess maybe a few remembered from last year, or found out from neighbours.

Tons of kids as usual. I didn't add up how many pieces, but we had at least 250 (probably more like 300). We were out of candy in a little over an hour. Despite this, H is insisting that next year we're handing out full sized candy bars. Uh huh.
Pretty uneventful except for the lady that fell off of our porch with a toddler in her arms, and the teenage ingrate without a costume that complained that we didn't give him enough candy. Thankfully the lady was ok, but my clueless husband kept yelling "are you okay?" at her down the block. Of course she probably wanted to sink into oblivion and get out of there without someone continuing to draw attention to the fact that she just fell off a porch in front of a dozen people.

We normally get about 6 truck or treaters, but I love seeing all the costumes. We got 20 this year.... Was so great!! And I'm left with 10 extra bars rather than the massive amount from precious years :-)
I'm doing the late shift as a favor to my boss. I'm sitting here essentially baby sitting a phone, which is a-okay with me! I think this might be the first time I've actually made a post on MM.
@songforyou, I want to see pics of you in costume!
Mortified at how wrinkled my dress was, but here goes! A few people asked to take pictures with me and I would stroke my dragon baby for dramatic effect lol.
Stroke your dragon baby. Bahaha. You dirty girl, lol. (Yes I'm 8). You look AMAZEBALLS.
