TGIF!!! I'm still reading Needful Things by Stephen King. I adore that man's writing but it takes me a while to read his long books. Keeping it in the family, I'm listening to NOS4A2 by Joe Hill. Taking forever as well. I am enjoying it, the narration is excellent.
QOTW: I have a very spoiled 11yo yellow lab named Chloe. I ended up being her forever mom because I was raising her as a guide dog pup when the organization went bankrupt years ago and released her to me as a pet. My former employer was so supportive of the puppy program, and allowed me to bring these guys to the work! I had the pleasure of a puppy at work with me every day for 6 years, and Chloe was the last one. The first two years of her life were spent going to the office with me every day. She got so well socialized- it was great. She did so much for the morale of the office as well.
ETA: my favorite literary pet is Enzo from The Art of Racing in the Rain
I'm reading Coincidence by J.W. Ironmonger, which is really, really good so far.
QOTW: I have a quirky little Lhasa apso who is almost 13 (the mop-head in my avatar) and a 9 year old black cat, who does not approve. He's actually a very sweet, loving cat, but he has a lot of opinions. Also, you are late for his petting. Where have you been?
I think Crookshanks is my favorite literary animal. I do love Hedwig, but Crookshanks has so much more personality.
I'm still on the Thursday Next series. Book #5. The series is just fun to me.
I think my favorite literary pet may be from this series. The main character has a cloned, wingless dodo bird as a pet named Pickwick. She's both an idiot and smart at the same time.

I'm reading The Forever Song by Julie Kagawa, the last book in The Immortal Rules trilogy. Like most trilogies, it's a tad repetitive, and for a book about vampires, it reminds me of The Hunger Games, lol.
QOTW: I don't have any pets, though I fantasize about getting a small dog (like a Corgi) that I would name Tyrion Hedwig is my favorite literary pet.

I love Pickwick! That's such a fun series -- glad you're enjoying it. You should give his other books a try too. The Nursery Crimes are a lot of fun.

It is good fun. I'll have to look into the series you mentioned. I loved his Shades of Grey and can't wait for the next installment to come out.
I'm reading Harry Potter and the Goblet of Fire. I'm also listening to Elizabeth Peters' The Curse of the Pharaohs on audiobook, which is fun but not captivating.
We have a 5-year old dog named Nala. She's awesome but still has a ton of energy, so it takes some work to tire her out.
I'm reading 11/22/63. It's pretty good, but I think I'll be able to pin point the weak spots once I'm done. And it's LONG. I started it on Sunday and about 60% through.
I have 2 Persian cats named Maximus and Delilah. Looking around casually for a third.
My favorite literary pet is Ser Pounce from the A Song of Ice and Fire series.
That book is the reason I was only able to finish 3 books last month! Very long! I did enjoy it though.
I'm reading Flat Out Matt. It's a companion to Flat Out Love by Jessica Park; it's a few prequel chapters plus some other chapters from FOL told from another character's POV.
QOTW: My pet is my dog, Daisy. She's a crazy 7 year old mutt who clearly loves my husband more than she does me, lol. My favorite literary pet is probably Hedwig as well.

Still reading The State Counsellor by Boris Akunin. I'm really enjoying it, but it's been slower reading than usual. I think that may be because I'm savoring it a bit; Erast Fandorin is one of my favorite characters, definitely a literary crush.
QOTD: I had a cat. Her name was Wimsey (after Dororthy L. Sayers' character Lord Peter Wimsey). She looked like you crossed a Siamese with a black & white cow. She was fine and delicate like Siamese cats, but black & white spotted. She had what we called a "half Hitler mustache," in that half her nose was pink and the other was in a black spot. She was a spoiled rotten baby girl. I got her when I graduated from college and she was a faithful kitty companion for 17 years.
ETA: My favorite literary pets are Mrs. Murphy and Tee Tucker from Rita Mae Brown's Mrs. Murphy mysteries. I mainly read those just for the parts when the animals are talking to each other.
I'm near the end of HP and the PoA. I take a big licensure exam Tuesday so I'm nervous about reading too much and not studying enough. I think it's #34 for the year.
ETA: Finished it!
QOTW: I have two kitties. Baby Kitty is 7 and Millie is 1. Millie is the white one. They get along pretty well most of the time. They are sweet girls:)
I've been having trouble focusing on one book this month. I just started the second to last Sookie book. I'd like to finish the series by the end of the year.
QOTW: I have 3 cats currently. Cali the calico, Pepper the big fluffy white one and Tator the bitter ex barn cat.
I'm reading "The Gospel of Food: Why We Should Stop Worrying and Enjoy What We Eat" by Barry Glassner. It's a nonfictional expose of sorts, about how contradictory the food experts are and how often they change their minds about what's good for us and what isn't. It's interesting, but I think I want to find a fictional novel to go back and forth with.
QOTW: I have 4 kitties. Cody, Karin, Ezio and Smudge. They are all so different in personalities and are constantly cracking me up.

Re-reading This is Where I Leave You from the last time I read it over 4 yrs ago since I enjoyed it quite a bit the first time. No pets here. Sometimes I think it would be nice to have a small sized dog in the house but I don't think any of us has the energy to take care of a dog.

Recently started Wild by Cheryl Strayed. It's the book that has a movie version with Reese Witherspoon, which I haven't seen but am looking forward to. I'm enjoying it so far.
Pets. I have four cats. After my elderly deeply loved cat passed away 2 years ago I ended up adopting 3 kittens from the same litter. A year later an abandoned kitten showed up at one of my jobs and I took her home knowing she would be accepted by my other kitties. They are a big pile of chaotic sweet cuteness.
