This is play kitchen year for B, so that plus play food. We also got him a few Melissa & Doug toys from the Amazon sale last week and a plush rocking dinosaur roy from Costco
We're really going to try and pare it down this year. Last year got away from me, but I really like the idea of four gifts - something you want, something you need, something you wear, and something you read. Plus St. Nicks and stockings.
I think I want to get tickets to the nutcracker and take DD for st nicks. I know she wants some matching outfit American Girl stuff for her bitty baby. That's all I've got so far. Experiences are what we're telling people - so tickets to the circus etc. and consumables, arts and craft stuff.
The boys are still young enough that they're not really asking for specific things. I think want to get a teeter totter addition for our playset. That might be their big gift.
DS1 just turned five. He is getting a huge hot wheels track and a set of superhero hot wheels, a Tinkertoy set, and a Lincoln Log set. He likes to build stuff so I've been snapping stuff up off of Amazon as I see it go on sale.
DS2 will probably get a gift picked out by DS1 and that's it, too small to really need anything.
Big gift from Santa: train set and conductor costume
Little Tikes Gas 'n Go Mower Toy "caps for sale" book Mouse cookies book (he tore up his copy) Zen Ghosts book Disney/Pixar movies "My Neighbor Totoro" movie B. Toys HiPhone (at Target) B. Toys Teepee Bedding for big boy bed, if we don't buy it sooner
I don't even know anymore. I have a closet full of stuff I have been buying on sale the past few months.
Thomas wooden railway and trains Several M&D puzzles, threading beads, some other stuff I can't remember. books FP laugh and learn tea set B toys bugs ??
Ok, I really need to pull everything out of the closet and go through it. This is the problem with shopping ahead.
Train set Floor puzzles and a couple smaller puzzles Melissa & Doug clock from Citrus Lane's September (?) box Books, books and more books Marble Run (though I may save this for next year) Stomp Rockets
Things I'm telling others about:
Magnatiles Tinker Toys Duplo blocks Thinkfun Roll and Play Board Game Magnetibook Vehicles Contribution to his 529
I also have a crapton of stuff in the closet that I need to sort through. There are some gifts he got last year that were not age appropriate, but I think those may wait until next year still.
I haven't confirmed it with H, but I'd like to get DS1 (3yo) a train table. Not really sure what to get DS2 (currently 8mo) - everything we get him will likely be taken over by his brother.
DD1 (will be 4 in Feb) has asked for a sewing machine from Santa. So...a sewing machine, I guess? She's also getting an M&D Bead Kit, a couple of books, and dress up clothes. And whatever we put in her stocking.
DD2 (16 months) is getting M&D dish washing toys, a giraffe puppet (she loves the one in DD1's preschool), books, and I think a sit n spin. And stocking stuff.
I'm debating getting them an indoor trampoline too.
My parents always gave us a lot from Santa, so I really struggle with this. They don't NEED anything. At all. And both families will go crazy with gifts, so they'll get a ton of stuff. I just have to get over my own hang up. Even my sister, who has proclaimed that she's not getting them toys because they don't need any more crap, thought that the gifts we've decided from Santa were too small. The consumerist mentality is hard to shake!

I got her an uglywhere chair. Also "regifting" her some things she got at my shower that she is only just old enough for - vetch sit and stand, megablocks table.
A- A bigger scooter, pajamas, a few small Playmobil pieces, a few books, and maybe an Elsa dress. M-A skateboard*, safety equipment for said skate board, possibly a used bike, a nice cape (homemade), and some books.
* I know he is really too little, but he is absolutely obsessed. We found a small cheap one and it will make him super happy.
ryry- I have the same struggle. Especially the years we are at my mother's. A's first Christmas there she guilted me into running out at the last minute to pick up a bigger gift.

It's crazy, isn't it? They don't know the difference. Santa has never brought a ton of stuff to them and they're too young to notice anyway. I'm always amazed that DD1 seems to think she can only ask Santa for one thing. Granted, she's not yet 4, so that will probably change, but I need to appreciate their non-consumerist attitudes now and not get hung up on my own craziness!
Tablet (still debating on Amazon Kindle for Kids or LeapPad 3, but probably going with the Kindle) Fisher Price Big Action Dig and Ride (might save this for his birthday in April since it's an outside toy) Plasma car (might save this for his birthday as well since it's too cold to use it here before then) Airport playset Hape Toolbox M&D Car Carrier Little People Skyway Little People trucks Books
My FIL might be making him a train table
My mom got him an art easel, accessories for the easel, a cash register, a Thomas book, etc
Play kitchen Plasma car (might save for 2yo birthday present) Bunch of other random toys I bought (damn you Amazon lightning deals) Whatever crap my parents and ILs get her
Yep, this!
Plasma Car Hape kitchen and fridge Melissa and Doug food from lightening deals Hape mixer, coffee maker and toaster from lightening deals puzzles and puzzle rack baby stroller and car seat Broom, mop, cleaning toys (Melissa and Doug set with rack) Razor Jr. Scooter Pots and Pans and utensils from Ikea Other small items
DD2 (5yo): leappad games, Frozen magiclip dolls, new dance bag, Don't Push the Button (a book she asked for), pink power ranges costume, a ream of white paper for drawing, Robot Turtles board game
DD3 (3yo): a water bottle (this is what she asked santa for), Frozen magiclip dolls, new dance bag, leappad games, ream of white paper...no idea what else to get her.
Also planning: Washable markers/coloring book Doctor kit A couple books CD player and some CDs (I know--old school. But as soon as we bring out our phones or the computer, the last thing she wants is to listen to music)
I feel like I still at least need one "bigger" gift, a couple more medium gifts, plus stocking stuffers. I thought about getting one of those trampoline things, but do I want to look at that in my house all the time? Probably not. Taking ideas
Santa is getting DS (will be 21-ish mos at Christmas):
Dance & Play Elmo (Consigment) Elmo Potty (lucky kid) Plush ELMO (IS THERE A THEME HERE?) M&D Shopping Cart Either a LT indoor basketball hoop or a tunnel
Books
Hoping to receive from family: Multi-purpose (flip top) IKEA kids table (my BIL is making) Learning tower Books Cloud b twilight buddies dragon (barnes & noble exclusive one)
DS1 (7): Donkey Kong Country 3 for his Nintendo 3DS Spirograph (I loved this as a kid and think he will have fun with it) Simon 4 early chapter books from series he likes (My Weird School and The Notebook of Doom) Stocking stuff -- 2 pairs of Nike Elite socks (he really wants these), little Lego Star Wars bag, Lego mystery figure, magnetic Thinking Putty, magic paint book, sneaker balls that look like basketballs
DS2 (4): Imaginext Batman Bat Bot Iceman Superhero Smasher Spider-Man puzzle 2 books (Knuffle Bunny and a book about gorillas, which he is oddly obsessed with right now) Stocking stuff -- Spot It Jr., little Lego Star Wars bag, Lego mystery figure, heat sensitive hyper color Thinking Putty, magic paint book, sneaker balls that look like basketballs
I will also get each of the big boys new PJs and probably a shirt or two or something else to wear, and I am going to hit up the science museum gift shop for another interesting toy or two each. I think their big Santa gift will either be a treehouse/swing for the backyard (if I can get my carpenter to build it in time) or a Wii U or Xbox One. They desperately want the Disney Infinity Marvel thing (never mind that they have the old Disney Infinity...), which I think one of the grandparents will get them if we buy a Wii U or Xbox. The grandparents are also buying them Lego sets of their choosing, so they will not go begging on that front.
So far DS3 (19 months) is getting a couple shirts from Gymboree, the Little Humans book, some Swedish moccasins from HA, Tegu blocks, a Melissa and Doug magnetic "dress a bear" toy, and a big plastic folding slide for the yard (his Santa present). There is really nothing he needs or wants at this point, but I will get him some stocking stuffers and another present or two so the big kids don't think he's left out.
DD1 (8) ideas Lego friends cruise ship Calendar with big cats or landscapes Snorkel set Just dance 4 White board Clothes from Justice Sorry! Board game Polka dot umbrella
DD2 (5) ideas Desk and chair Canopy to hang over bed Snorkel set Trouble board game

Their big present is a Power Wheels 2 seater truck. DD1 is getting some Bitty Baby clothes, 3 Disney animator dolls and a bunch of books. DD2 is getting a stuffed Kristoff (from Frozen), books, Little People Rapunzel Tower and I need to figure out 1 more thing.
Oh and a bunch of Tinkerbell DVDs that I got on major sale from Costco!
I don't even know anymore. I have a closet full of stuff I have been buying on sale the past few months.
Ok, I really need to pull everything out of the closet and go through it. This is the problem with shopping ahead.
I did this yesterday and the amount of stuff I have is insane. I am going to end up just using a lot of the for birthday gifts for other kids because I went too crazy!
