The boyfriend who lived downstairs is saying he had no clue they were living like that because he wasn't allowed upstairs. Wtf?
I thought it was his mother's house. And they were/are(?) boyfriend and girlfriend and the younger two are his kids. How was he not allowed up there, first of all. Second of all, if true, wouldn't he wonder why the hell he wasn't allowed into the house that his girlfriend and two kids lived?
Article said he's not being g charged in connection with what occurred there, so it seems law enforcement believes him, but just how does one just say oh ok when their girlfriend does not allow them into the living space of his children?
And they released pics the other day. Anyone see them? Don't tell me he didn't smell something.
And the little ones, the last I read, were having a bit of trouble adjusting to outdoors because they basically hadn't seen the light of day like in their lives. And they appeared to not have really been interacted with.
Anyone else following this almost unbelievable story? It's blowing my mind.
I try not to go into it too much, it just sounds so horrible.
The ball was dropped in so many ways. A neighbor was interviewed when the news first broke. She was on TV (they didn't show her face, but still) saying the mom asked her to come help with a crying baby. The neighbor said she WENT INTO THE HOUSE and saw what was going on. When the reporter asked why she didn't call anyone, she said, "Oh, I'm new the neighborhood and didn't want to cause any trouble." It's like a moment where you see how different it is from when people used to all know their neighbors.

Oh and he said that he had no clue that the 4 babies were his! Cut the shit out dude. So what you are telling everyone is that you never moved from the basement EVER. The people out on the street could smell the house from the outside. What did you think it was you that smelled like a trash dump??
I have no idea what this refers to and am a little afraid to Google at work.
This is the latest article from wcvb.com. It's really sad
BLACKSTONE, Mass. —A man who lived in the basement of a squalid Massachusetts home where the remains of three dead babies were found says he was unaware of the "inhuman" conditions his children were living in because he was not allowed upstairs.
A trembling and crying Ramon Rivera made the comments following a brief court appearance Wednesday on marijuana-related charges.
"I'm a crumbling man, I'm crumbling," Rivera said.
Erika Murray, the children's mother, has pleaded not guilty to fetal death concealment, permitting substantial injury to a child, and child endangerment.
He's not charged in connection with the discovery of three dead infants and animal carcasses in the filthy, squalid home near the Rhode Island line, but he is facing marijuana charges.
Rivera spoke about how he learned that two of the four surviving children taken from the home were his children.
"I never saw the infant at all. I knew she was at least babysitting. The older one, so I saw her once but that was it," Rivera said.
Rivera said he spent "99 percent" of his time in the home's basement and wasn't allowed into the rest of the house.
"I was told to go in the basement and be in the basement ... and stay in the basement,” he said.
Rivera said he hasn't had stable housing arrangements for himself and has been living out of his car. He quit his job at an office supply store and is awaiting a payout from the job to pay for a lawyer.
The state took custody of four children ranging in age from 5-months old to 13-years-old from the Blackstone home in August and the bodies were found in September.
He described their living arrangements before being removed from the home, which has since been taken down.
"She stayed in (one daughter's) cleaner room. She had her clean her room so that the baby could stay here," Rivera said.

I fully believe now that he's not fully functioning mentally. He's basically a kid, a little kid. It's the most wicked story, I can't imagine. These two little ones never saw the light of day. 3 years old and a 6 month old.
He's living in his car now. His mom owned the house and the town made them demolish it.
It's such a system failure. I'm very well versed in mental illness, and this is blowing me away.

I never read thus part. What? All I read was a neighbor did call because the older (11 or 13) year old asked the neighbor how to get a baby to stop crying.
The pictures are seared into my brain. Handprints of shit all over the walls. And that's not even the worst part. Gah those poor kids.

There's no denying any of this. I feel bad for everyone. No one around them stepped up to the plate and said these people need help, those children need help until it was too late. This mentality that if it's not happening to me then it's not happening is just sad.

I saw a clip of this on the tv news last night. It was the clip of the father shaking, trembling and crying after the court appearance. I believe that he is mentally ill as well.
It said on the news that he was trying to cash in his 401(k) of approximately $100K to pay for his legal bills.
